The Barn
This is one option for my venue. I am afraid that nobody is going to see my vision. Because yeah, I want to get married in a barn. BUT, I don't want it to be COUNTRY- AT ALL. I envision when you drive up to the barn the barn doors will be open with nice fabric draped around the large doors, and our initials covered in moss hanging from them. And as you enter you are surrounded by candles and chandeliers and lots of flowers. Can anyone envision what I am talking about?? Basically I want it to be dramatic, romantic, classy with deep colors.
In the main area of the barn there are really high ceilings and I wanted to do some simple draping and in the center hang 4 chandeliers from the ceiling with candles on them or some LED lights. So we will see, I have tried to contact this place more than once and I have still not gotten a response! They BETTER call me back!! :) oh and there is a fire pit, so I can have a S'mores Bar!! :) |

How I Met My FH
When I started beauty school I was super focused on school and just doing my own thing. There was a lady in my class that I hit it off with and we became fast friends. I had met her before starting school while I was working at Sally Beauty Supply. We went to lunch all the time and she would tell me stories about her son. I just laughed and didn't think much of it. While I was working I was on a break sitting outside the front of my store with my friends and we saw this guy get outta his truck, he started walking towards my store. When he walked passed us I let out a BIG DAAAANG. ( like dang look at how HOT that boy is!) He went into the store bought something and then left. A little while later I got a phone call at work and it was my friend from school. She said so, did you see my son? I said oh my hell, you seriously sent him in here. I was sooo embarrassed!! Just cause Im sure he had heard me yell out my big DAAANG. LOL. So she asked what I thought of him, I told her he was soo cute, but really not looking to date. I was more focused on school. BORING I know.
A couple weeks later, it was actually Friday the 13th, my friend from school called me and invited my over to her house to meet her son and to just hang out. I was tired, looked not-so-cute, and just wanted to go home. She begged me to come over and finally I caved in and headed over. But not before I pulled over at the nearest gas station to redo my hair and make up! :) I got to the house and I was being SUPER quiet. Not my normal self at all. I was just SMITTEN! He made me laugh, we watched some tv and had some good conversation. After awhile I didn't want to leave and in fact I didn't. I slept over at his house ON THE COUCH and he was IN HIS OWN ROOM. The next day I had a Hair Show, so I headed home and got ready. I continued on with my day and when the Hair Show was over I headed to my house. One of my best friends was in town and wanted to chill. So I picked her up and started to drive around town. BUT I coudn't stop thinking about him. He was amazing! So I asked her if she cared if I called him up and ask him to go to a party with us. She said okay and I called him. I was soo nervous, only because I didn't know what he was going to say. At first he was unsure, but luckily I talked him into coming with us. I went and picked him up.We hung out all night, we went and dropped my best friend off at her hotel and we continued to hang out for the rest of the night and into the early morning. And from that day on we were inseperable. We hung out all the time and a 8 days later we made it OFFICIAL. So glad Michael's mom Susie introduced us to each other! |

How long did you date before you got engaged?
Almost 3 years...it will be 3 years Oct. 21 Did you get the ring you wanted? It's perfect. Was the proposal a complete surprise? COMPLETE! I had no idea. He did soo well. Do you wish you had a bigger/smaller diamond? If so How big or small? It's wonderful! Did you cry when he proposed? I cried my eyes out, I was sooo happy!!! When do you want to go for your honeymoon? Probably the Monday after we get married. Are you buying his wedding band for him? Yeah, I want to just get an idea of what he likes then Ill surprise him. Have you gone over your original wedding budget? Not completely, I have an idea. What day of the year will your wedding be? A gorgeous fall saturday What kind of weather? Hopefully just like it was this year, sunny and gorgeous Inside or outside? Outside wedding, inside reception Church/justice of the peace/other? Other. How many people will be there? Hopefully Everyone!! My guest list is at a whopping over 200...so I will have to figure out what to do! Time of day? like late afternoon, into the night, cause I want a night time reception! How many bridesmaids? Who would they be? 5 girls total- My Sister and 4 Best Friends! Then RMM's sisters but they will stand on his side :) What kind of cake/what will it look like? simple but elegant! :) What kind of dress will you have/color/material? Who knows? I haven't looked at dresses yet! What kind of flowers in your bouquet? I don't know, I am having a hard time deciding! I want dahlias! Kind of wedding bands? just a band with diamonds for me and whatever he chooses...I like Titanium for him. How will you wear your hair? I have no idea! Who will be important to be there? Everyone that comes!! Will the reception be big or small? BIG. LOL. Mostly family, cause I have a HUGE family! What will the groom wear? He will decide. He has very good taste. How old will you and the groom be? I will be 23 and he will be 26 :) How long will you be engaged before you get married? A whole year and a couple days. Im so happy I have time to plan! Live together before or wait till married? We have lived together and I wouldn't have had it any other way! Take a long time to plan the wedding or will it be simple? Long time but simple. :) Will you do it yourself or with family or hire someone to plan the wedding? just me and my family Will you write your own vows or use something pre-made? I want to write our own vows. I want everyone to feel the love that him and I share! Cause it's amazing!! |

Setting the Date
So that night while I was calling everyone that seemed to be the biggest question everyone was asking was, WHEN?. I didn't know that the second after you get engaged you were just supposed to automatically know when. So after I settled down a little bit, Michael and I sat down and looked at the 2010 calendar. I always knew I wanted a fall wedding. October would have been ideal. But since both my FH and I's birthday and dating anniversary were in October I said NO. So we decided on September 25, 2010. Hopefully the weather next year will be as amazing as the weather was this year!

The Proposal
It was the BIGGEST surprise of my life! I seriously had no idea he was going to propose!
Michael and I have been together for almost 3 years, so I am usually pretty on top of things and know about things before they even happen! And he did so well in surprising me. We were out of town visiting Michael's mom. We had spent all day at the mall shopping and looking around. They told me it was my turn to pick where we were eating for dinner! So I picked a nice little restaurant and we went and had a nice dinner. At the end of dinner our waitress was taking FOREVER, and to be honest, I was getting kind of irritated. But before I knew it she had brought out a piece of cake with the ring sticking out of it. The first words out of my mouth were ' What is going on?' Michael didn't get down on one knee, but he had turned to me and grabbed my hand. He told me how much he loved me and then asked me if I would marry him. I was in SHOCK. It took me a second to answer him back because I was crying and smiling so hard! I finally said yes!!!! And started calling everyone to let them know!! So I find out after he proposed that he had bought the ring that day and just decided it was time. It was so spur of the moment and amazing! They were surprised that I had no idea, because I guess they were passing the ring back and forth between each other all day. LOL. Im so glad I didn't know. |
