Weight Loss.
Weight Loss.
Weight Loss.
Okay, so I'm not fat or anything, but yes... I'd like to lose a little bit of weight. Maybe 5, possibly 10 pounds. Especially before my big day. I have a lot of time ahead of me so I figured if I start now, I'll be good.

My plan to lose weight is below, if any of you have suggestions or comments, feel free. I'm always looking for more ideas.

Food Wise
For the most part, I plan to eat what I want, but limit myself to sweets only on Saturday nights, which is usually our movie night and we like to eat candy and such. But, along with that, I'll have to limit how much exactly I'll be consuming.
Personally, I think the way that I eat is fine. I wake up in the morning, have a bowl of Special K cereal, for lunch I either make a sandwich or get a Subway sandwich, and for dinner I eat plenty of vegetables and really not that much meat. And I honestly don't snack that much. Maybe on a bad day I'll have two snacks just to keep my energy up... but it's usually either a piece of fruit or some crackers, salt free might I add.
So from now on I'm lowering my caloric intake to 1500. I think that will suffice. I'm also going to start eating a lot more fruits and vegetables, because not only is it good for you, some of the stuff you can make is incredibly delicious.

Drink Wise
I'm not the type of person that drinks pop a whole lot. I drink at the most two a day, and that's on a bad day. I mostly drink either water, Propel, Life Water, or Green Tea.
So for this section of my weight loss I plan to start juicing to provide myself with more fruits and vegetables in my diet. I think it's a wonderful idea.

Exercise
I'm not really that big on exercise, but I do at least 30 minutes of Pilates 2-3 days a week.

I aim to change that and with that, I'm going to start doing the Carmen Electra's Aerobic Striptease videos, which I have... just never really used. I think it's perfect because not only will I be getting in shape, I'll learn things to make the hubby to be happy in the bedroom ;). (Not that he isn't, mind you.)

Anyways, this is my plan and again, if you have any suggestions or comments, go for it. I'd love to hear from you.

Limiting your calories is the best way to lose weight.  I lost 30 pounds last summer and plan on losing at least 10 more before my wedding in August.  Good luck and I'm sure you will do great!

As long as you have a calorie deficit each day, you should lose weight very steadily.

As long as you eat 500 calories LESS a day and burn 500 calories MORE than your BMR (base metabloic rate-what you burn while at rest) than the weight should fall off.

It IS possible to eat 500 less calories a day without starving yourself! Do this:

1. Cut the soda and sugary drinks. Just one soda is about 150 calories!! Drink water, or a Crystal Light instead! If you drink 3 gallons of milk in 1.5 weeks like me and my fiance do, you can switch to skim milk vs. whole or 2%.
2. Reduce Portion Sizes. Eat what you want (within reason) just make it smaller! If you like a baked potato with your steak, just cut the potato in half! You don't need the whole thing.
3. Prepare Foods Differently. Example: When you make chicken, bake in instead of frying. I will save you a TON of calories!
4. Replace carb filled meal sides with veggies. My fiance and I started doing this and it works great! Instead of Rice-a-Roni with dinner, I make double the veggie portions. You can find some really yummy veggie recipes online.
5. Stop eating right before bed. Unless you are super fit, your body's metabolism is not equipped to burn all those calories you ate right before you went to sleep.

Workouts

Let me just say I HATE running. I get terrible shin splits no matter what shoes I wear or how much I stretch. Because of this, We got a stationary exercise bike for the house. I LOVE it! When I workout on the bike at night, I flip on the boob-tube and watch lasts nights TV from the DVR. I usually go at an alternating moderate to intense workout for about 45 min to and hour and according to the colorie counter hooked up to my heart rate monitor, I burn around 450-500 calories! Not bad! In the morning I usually do about 10-15 minutes at a moderate pace while I watch the news.

Here is a website with a BMR calculator and other information. Really informative!  The best formula is the Katch-McArdle, but you can only do it if you know your body fat percentage (Don't rely on cheap bathroom scales to give you an accuate reading. Go to a gym where they can do it with their more accurate equiptment) The Katch-McArdle formula It is the most accurate calculation you can get without going to a doctor.
