Veil
Tips for choosing the right veil
From coloradoweddings.com:
Choose the length of your veil. There are six type of veil. Shoulder length (45), waist length (54), hip length (72), floor length (108), train length (126), and cathedral length (144). The shoulder and waist length veil are generally used for gowns without a train and will enhance any detailing at or around the waist of the gown. The hip length veil can be worn with any full length gown. It falls right at the fingertips of the bride if her hands are at her side and is used for formal and semi-formal weddings. The floor, train, and cathedral length veil should only be worn with a chapel or cathedral length gown. The veil will extend onto the floor at least six inches past the train for a very dramatic look. Keep in mind that chapel and cathedral length veils can be difficult to maneuver. A little tip, if you are small, dont choose a veil that swamps you, such as a high bouffant veil. It will only make you look smaller. |

Wedding Dress
Bridal Bolero/Jacket
I've been thinking about getting a bolero to go with my dress mainly because in April, it's still a bit on the chilly side, especially in the evenings. But, I keep coming across these with so much lace detail. I'd rather one where the sleeves are plain and it has a nice collar like the 1 in the pic. Does anyone know where I can find a nice one at a reseonable price?

Catholic Pre-Cana
The Secret's Out
Over the past few months, I've seen several posts asking what really happens at these pre cana/counselling sessions. Last night, FH and I finally got a chance to find out.
We went to out first session of pre-cana (or counselling as it's called by some religious denominations). It was not what we expected. It started off with a short service with a priest. Then, the couple conducting the actual session introduced themself, said a few words and asked if any of the men in the room ever wrote their fiance a love letter. My FH was the only 1 that raised his hand...lol. His wife then gave us home-work. Yes, home-work, which was to write a love letter to your fiance....lol. We had to submit the letter as we entered he room this morning (in a sealed envelope) with out names on the outside. Today, the real session got underway and covered a number of topics including: 1. Communication 2. Finances 3. In-laws 4. Arguing 5. Are you happy with who you are? 6. Negative criticism 7. Supporting your partner 8. Accepting God into your marriage 9. Avoiding couples that will negatively influence your marriage 10. Sex and Sexuality 11. Family planning After most of the topics, we were given work sheets with questions about the various topics and how it related to us as a couple. We first filled out each work sheet. Then we were given time to discuss our answers with eachother. I think this was an absolutely awesome experience and would reccommend that any couple part-take in 1 of the sessions. I'm really glad we did it (not just because we were required to). At the end of the session, we were given the letters back to read in our fiance's presence. My FH wrote me an absolutely beautiful letter. Almost brought me to tears. It was his best 1 yet. |

Wedding Reception
Bride & Groom Entrance Song
For our entrance into the reception, I'm torn between whether I should use a song that says "lets get this party started" or something slow and romantic. We'll most likely have one of the large confetti cannons spraying confetti as we enter (like in the pic). So, I'm leaning toward a song with a faster beat. Any suggestions? Which song are you ladies using?

Diet & Exercise
Sacred Heart Medical Diet
I noticed that quite a few brides plan to lose a few pounds before the big day. A friend of mine sent this to me today. So, I thought I'd share.
I think I may try it. I've already lost 10 pounds by just changing my diet by mainly cutting out the candy and other sugary snacks. I don't care to lose 10 pounds per week. But, if I can lost 10 more pounds by the wedding date. I'd be satisfied. I'm not so sure I can follow thru on this diet. But, thought I'd try it because the soup looks yummy...which brings me back to why I need to lose weight. I love to eat...lol. Has anyone ever heard of this or tried it? Has it worked? Sacred Heart Medical Diet This 7-day eating plan can be used as often as you like. If correctly followed, it will clean out your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. After only 7 days of this process, you will begin to feel lighter by at least 10 pounds and possibly 17 pounds, and experience an abundance of energy. SOUP: 1 or 2 cans of stewed tomatoes 3 plus large green onions 1 large can of beef broth (no fat) 1 pkg. Lipton Soup mix (chicken noodle) 1 bunch of celery 2 cans green beans 2 lbs. Carrots 2 Green Peppers Season with salt, pepper curry, parsley, if desired, or bouillon, hot or Worcestershire sauce. Cut veggies in small to medium pieces. Cover with water. Boil fast for 10 minutes. Reduce to simmer and continue to cook until veggies are tender. This soup can be eaten anytime you are hungry during the week. Eat as much as you want, whenever you want. This soup will not add calories. The more you eat, the more you will lose. You may want to fill a thermos in the morning if you will be away during the day. DRINKS: Unsweetened juices Tea (also herbal) Coffee Cranberry juice Skim milk Water, water, water DAY ONE Any fruit (except bananas). Cantaloupes and watermelon are lower in calories than most other fruits. Eat only soup and fruit today. DAY TWO All vegetables. Eat until you are stuffed with fresh raw, cooked or canned veggies. Try to eat green leafy veggies and stay away from dry beans, peas or corn. Eat veggies along with the soup. At dinnertime tonight reward yourself with a big baked potato and butter. Don't eat any fruits through today. DAY THREE Eat all the soup, fruit and veggies you want. Do not have a baked potato. If you have eaten as above for three days and not cheated, you should find that you have lost 5-7 pounds. DAY FOUR Bananas and skim milk: Eat at least 3 bananas and drink as much milk as you can today, along with the soup. Bananas are high in calories and carbohydrates, as is the milk but on this particular day, your body will need the potassium and carbs. Proteins and calcium to lessen the cravings for sweets. DAY FIVE Beef and tomatoes: you may have 10 to 20 ounces of beef and a can of tomatoes, or as many as 6 tomatoes on this day. Eat the soup at least once today. DAY SIX Beef and veggies, eat to your heart's content of the beef and veggies today. You can even have 2-3 steaks if you like with green leafy veggies but no baked potato. Be sure to eat the soup at least once today. DAY SEVEN Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juice and veggies, again, be sure to stuff yourself and eat the soup. You can add cooked veggies to your rice if you wish. By the end of the 7th day, if you have not cheated on this diet, you should have lost 10 to 17 pounds. If you have lost more than 17 pounds, stay off the diet for two days before resuming the diet again. This diet is fast. The secret lies within the principle that you will burn more calories than you take in. It will flush your system of impurities and give you a feeling of well-being. This diet does not lend itself to drinking any alcoholic beverages at any time. Because of the fat build-up in your system. Go off the diet at least 14 hours before any intake of alcohol. Due to the variety of digestive systems in individuals, this diet will affect everyone differently. After day three, you will have more energy than when you began, if you do not cheat. After being on the diet for several days, you will find that your bowel movements have changed. Eat a cup of bran or fiber. Although you can have black coffee with this diet, you may find that you don't need caffeine after the third day. The basic fat burning soup can be eaten anytime you feel hungry during the seven days. Eat as much as you wish. Remember the more you eat, the more you will lose. You can eat broiled, boiled or baked chicken instead of the beef. Absolutely no skin on the chicken. If you prefer, you can substitute broiled fish for the beef on only one of the beef days. You need the high protein in the beef for the other days. Continue on the diet as long as you wish and feel the difference both mentally and physically. DO NOT - DO NOT No bread, alcohol, carbonated drinks (including diet drinks). Remember, absolutely no fried foods. DO - DO - DO - DO Drink plenty - at least 6 to 8 glasses - of water a day, as well as any combination of the following beverages: black coffee, unsweetened fruit drinks, cranberry juice and skim milk. This diet comes from the Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital that is used for overweight heart patients in order to lose weight rapidly, usually prior to surgery. |

Ask a Question
Circular Menu Card
Ok ladies, I'm back to the circular menu issue...again.
I pretty much tried all of your suggestions in my last post and I had ABSOLUTELY no luck. I tried feeding them into my printer but they keep shifting somehow and only half of the info gets printed on the circle. Then I noticed a bride on weddingbee made her own from the square stock and cut them into circles with a pretty scalloped edge (see pic). So, I figured this is doable until I noticed she used adobe illustrator, which nor anyone I know has (including FH...and he's a closet computer geek). So, once again, I was disappointed. Then, I noticed another bride posted that she found her photographer on craigslist who is up and coming. So, I figured it's not a bad idea to look for a printer also. All I needed to find was someone with a printer that they can feed the circles into it and the job will pretty much do itself. I contacted a few persons in the NY/NJ area and I got some outrageous quotes. The lowest was $400....which is wayyyyyy out of my budget. I might as well but a new printer and I'll still be saving money. One guy even game me a quote of $700. Are you kidding me? For that price, I can just order them online at one of the fancier sites. Anyhow, here's today's question(s): Is anyone else doing circular menus/programs? Do you have a printer that you'd be abe to feed the circles in and print them for me? I'm willing to pay you...I just can't afford $400 just for printing. Kindly leave a comment or send me a message if you're able/willing to help. Thx in advance. |

Remembering Our Loved Ones On Our Special Day
Mini Brass Charm
A while back, I had posted that I had purchased a vintage brass charm (actually a brooch) to put on my bouquet in memory of my cousin that passed away on April 13th, 2004. It's been alsmost 5 years and I still miss him dearly.
I'd gotten the brooch from a vendor on etsy and it's beautiful (2nd pic). Unfortunately, it's too big for the style bouquet that I'll be using. So, I searched some more and came across a small charm that's just as pretty. I'll be putting his pic in it and let it dangle from my bouquet. I won't be using the original brooch. So, if anyone would like 1, I have 3 of them that I can give away--------> For FREE, yes F-R-E-E. I'll even ship it for free as long as the shipping doesn't amount to some absurd amount. But, I'll only give 1 to each person. Please send me a message if you're interested. |

Ask a Question
Unique Table Names/Numbers
A few months ago, I had posted that I'd like to do something unique in terms of table numbers/names. I posted the idea of naming the tables after different orchidssince I'm including orchids in the centerpieces . But, I was still iffy about that idea because I think the names may be a bit too complexed for the guests and they may get confused.
Then I saw Pearaholic commented on my post that she'd like to use famous "pears" as her table names. Although this is a pretty unique idea that I wouldn't mind borrowing from her, would it not still confuse the guests since it's a name instead of a number? So, here's the real question: Is there a way to make it easy for the guests to find their table if I use a name instead of a number? Besides famous pairs, does anyone have any ides of other unique table names? Thanks in advance :) |

R.S.V.P
We received our 1st one
I know I only mailed our the invitations yesterday. But, I hand-delivered my grandmother's last night. After she read it, she gave me the RSVP right away and said she's coming (like we didn't know that already...lol).
She said she might as well give it to me now because she may forget to return it, then she'll miss out...lol |
