Admittedly, my husby and I do not have the 'typical' newlywed experience.
Here I am, a teacher with a master's degree and my husband just got a job at Chipotle and is about to start community college in the fall.
We don't have a house, we share a two bedroom apartment with his parents. We're dirt poor right now. We have no plans for children in the near future...our main goal is to have enough money to buy a house for his parents in Mexico in the next year.
But, you know...our relationship has been through so many tests and we've passed every one. It was sometimes a struggle, but we made it! No, I'm not coming home from an amazing honeymoon. No, I did not have the wedding of my dreams...
And yet - I'm SOO happy today because Luis has a job and we are starting our lives together. We are writing our story...maybe our story doesn't follow the fairy tale pattern but I am happy it is OUR story nonetheless!
I feel so blessed to be able to post this and so blessed to have you girls as a support network through all we've been through! =)
PS - Careful with those burritos! The tortilla alone is like, 300 calories! Happy planning ladies!
By the way I feel your pain when you have a Masters and you are getting paid pennies on the dollar... you really have to love what you do!!!! I work with people with disabilities and believe me there is absoloutly have to love what you do!!!!! Keep up the great work..with teaching and everything else....There are going to be some great days and some not so great days...Just stay strong!!!! And keep us posted!!!! JCD
seriously though, congrats!!! It's a fine start and you guys will work hard with jobs and each other and you WILL find blessing and those vacations and nice things will come. Way to go!
Anyway, I really appreciate the WBC love and support! I hope you are right and that we are on the right track and one day we'll have the wedding and honeymoon of our dreams =)
I am sure you will have your dream wedding and honeymoon in the future, just more to look forward to ! We are also unable to do a lot of things because of money, but in the end we don't care about stuff. we just care about being together (in the same country, house, room, bed ;-) and being able to spend time together, that's what will make the marriage last a lifetime, not buying stuff for a wedding...it's a dream to wake up in the morning and see my hubby to be right there next to me. I am sure you feel the same. Put's a smile on my face and butterflies in my tummy just thinking about it. xx
thanks to the immigration process we don't have money for a wedding ! I don't know how they expect people to pay for all the legal fee's and still have a wedding within 90days. Really it's all worth it because it's the only way we can be together but sometimes it makes me really sad that we are "giving" all this money to the government that we could otherwise use for bringing our family here for a ceremony...well you know...
good luck and best wishes, you can do this. Don't forget its for you and he. not so much about all the others we plan so extravagantly for! :-)
