I'm thinking of having 4 bridesmaids...and letting them choose any color from a peacock feather scheme. Do you guys think it will look crazy if they don't all match? Is anyone else doing this?! Thanks for any feedback!
I've only seen it done one time in person, however, and it didn't work out very well. The biggest problem was that it looked like of the six bridesmaids, four of them just used their old Prom gown. That probably sounds nitpicky, but it wasn't like this photo where everyone still has that "bridesmaid" look. The dresses were way too elaborate; one maid had a huge, princess ball gown that was fluffier than the dress the bride was wearing. In the end, it took a lot of attention away from the bride. I know I wasn't the only person who was distracted by them during the ceremony.
The control freak side of me says draws lines. Make some very basic limits (i.e. "no ball gowns"). Aside from that, because peacock feathers are so multi-colored, I think a multi-colored bridal party is perfectly fitting!
on the site where I got this picture, it noted that this one works because all the dresses have similar lengths and are pretty simple...not too fluffy, kind of simple A-line, empire-waist style. I'just don't want my bridesmaids to look completely crazy...but I love how these dresses are so different with patterns and a variety of colors, but all look so great together. Maybe I'll try for something like this!
I wanted to do something similar and ended up setting them a few limits- they picked their dress, but I suggested color, length, fabric & designer so that they all coordinated. The main reason being that the girls found it too stressful to each pick a completely different dress without something pointing them in the right direction and even after they ordered their dresses, it turned out that they all wanted the same one.
I've seen this happen as well. It didn't go well either. The concept is great, but once you see it you kind of want to close your eyes and imagine that they're all the same. The bride had her girls pick bright colored dresses, all the same style but different colors. They ended up looking like skittles!!! It was hilarious and sad at the same time. This was quite a few years ago, but even know I keep telling myself "step into the rainbow"
Have them all go shopping w/you and you see them in the dresses (all shades of the peacock). If you're still happy and know you're going to love it. GO FOR IT!!!
No! That's an awesome, original idea. And the peacock colours work together beautifully and they're all gorgeous jewel tones. Your pics will look awesome.
I'm debating a bridal party.. but if I have one I kinda just want them to wear one of the two other colours in my palette - which is silver and purple..
When your palette works together, everything will work out great.
I'm doing a peacock theme as well and that sounds like a cool idea, though if I do that I might just make sure the dress is the same and only the colors differ.
Im doing this with my bridesmaids 4 in pink and 4 in silver,it goes pink, silver, pink silver and so on I have a total of 8 girls,I cant wait ,I have the men going in the same colors has the girls that they will be walking with,I love this idea,I think it will be BEAUTIFUL!
I thought of doing that but I was told it take to much attention away from the bride so Iam going with Purple and green which are my favorite color's and the fiance like's green. I am also having 5 bridesmaids and a junior bridesmaid.. not crazy at all with the green and purple i was thinking of doing 3 in green and 3 in purple or the girls in purple and guys in the green just some ideas for ya.
