My FH & I are always getting picked on with "Where is the ring? When are you getting married?" etc. Apparently everyone but me knew it was coming...
My FH has been wanting to go on a cruise, but financially I wasn't ready for one yet so I told him we needed to wait a bit. One day in June I think he calls & says he booked one for September. I was excited about the trip but a little angry he went ahead & booked it without telling me first.
I was a little nervous about taking a cruise because I had never been on one, but it was AMAZING. We went on the Carnival Sensation to Nassau, Bahamas for a 4 day/3 night cruise. He upgraded our room to the corporate suite because they sold him on the bigger balcony & jacuzzi (which doesn't really fit 2 ppl!), the next largest room was the penthouse! It was an amazing room, but my favorite part was of course the balcony. Almost every morning & night we would stand outside watching the sunrise/sunsets & just talk. On the last full day of the cruise, I woke up & he was outside on the balcony so I joined him. We were standing, holding each other having a very intimate moment talking about our relationship & future when he says "I was talking to your dad a while back & he gave us his blessing" (later tells me it was November of last year!) I was shocked, didn't know what to say... Then he backed away & got down on one knee & proposed. Of course I said yes! :)
He is the most amazing man. So good to me & my daughter (from previous marriage)! We have so much in common & really learned a lot from one another on how to handle situations... We have been together almost 2 years & have only had 1 semi-fight because we have learned (with a lot of patience) how to handle each other. We keep each other calm during hot situations, are always laughing & don't have to say a word to have a full conversation. Sometimes I wish I could have been with him long ago, but then I realize that what we each have been through have made us who we are today. We have come to really appreciate the rarity in our relationship & are so blessed. He proposed on 9.10.11 & suggested a wedding on 12.13.14, which I liked the number thing & that he came up with it so a little over 3 years of planning ahead, but the timing works for us & I am so ecstatic about spending the rest of our lives together!
