Most of you girls know from previous posts that our original Honeymoon got canceled by Sandals. I was very upset! I was looking forward to my Honeymoon, probably more so then the entire wedding! But with our guest list rising and wedding costs adding up we just couldn't find the funds to go.

It ended up working out for the best I guess, we have so much going on right now getting caught back up with everything we neglected to get married, the wedding was taking up SO much of my time. We are also doing our annual family vacation with our son, my brother and his kids and that was more important to me then going on a Honeymoon right away.

We were planning to go on our Honeymoon in September, but have decided that now we will have to put it off until March or April of next year.. I'm a little worried it will take away the thrill of going on a Honeymoon but I've decided it should still be relaxing for us to get away and spend time together regardless. and because we're holding off, we can afford some extras and also a room upgrade. and also it' isn't during Hurricane season!

The GOOD NEWS IS!... WE BOUGHT A HOUSE! We settle on Aug. 25th! I'm so excited, it's a house located in the town where I grew up, great schools, huge yard and its a fixer upper which is what my Husband and I wanted, something we could totally renovate and make money on. The housing market SUCKS right now and all these huge homes are sitting empty (at least here in MD they are!) We are paying for the house in CASH, which is the best benefit of all to me! We decided we could use the money we would spend on a Honeymoon for renovations. Our first smart adult decision ;-)

I'm really excited about it! We hope to move into it by January, I plan to try to have another baby when we get back from our Honeymoon next Spring.. more updates on that later! Did any of you other already married ladies hold off on the Honeymoon? Did it take away the thrill of BEING on a Honeymoon?

OMG, congratulations...being a home owner is going to be so much more worth it!!!!! Please update us with pics of the house and renovations. My FH wants us to get a fixer upper too, I just want it to be in a good neighborhood ;-)

I'm not married, but my FH deserves this honeymoon (more than me). He works 80 hours A WEEK (sometimes more)...to pay for my dream wedding and to maintain a comfortable life without too many substitutions! His father...(my FFIL lol) is paying for our honeymoon though, so our situation is different.

You're making a good decision to wait until Spring to go on your honeymoon, and maybe you'll have a honeymoon baby ;-)

Oh, the family vacations should be nice :-)

I originally wasn't so crazy about the idea, we bought a piece of land to build a house on last year but my husband is in real estate and this was a once in a lifetime opportunity we couldn't pass up. I too feel my husband deserves a Honeymoon, but he prefers the house right now. He is excited to start working on it. =) The good news about holding off on the Honeymoon is that hopefully it will also be to celebrate getting our house being complete! Will keep you girls updated! xox

awwwww Laurie that is WONDERFUL!!!!! Good job girl!!! The islands will be there waiting for you and the hubby!!! Buying a house is such a smart great thing and you are setting your foundation!!! Trust me you will need that honeymoon once things settle down with the house! I love it!

I hope you use alot of you DIY talents and put into the house and just like the wedding was your baby..the home...the nest...where you will raise your kids is now your baby!!!

Congrats on the new house!!! I don't think that waiting for the honeymoon will take away the trill at all =) I think you and hubby will have a fantastic time where ever and when ever you decide to go!

Congrats on the house purchase!  It is always really exciting when you get to purchase your first home:) Not only will you guys be able to reno it, but the best part is decoratiing it!!!!  I loved doing all of those things!  I think putting your honeymoon off until March will work out the best for you guys, just like you said that gives you extra money for reno:)  Plus, it will be a nice little get away mid-way past your wedding.  Have fun with all of your reno/ decorating decisions ahead of you:):):)

The honeymoon will be there! We were going to wait as well but I have too many obligations with my job that won't allow me. With us also getting a home, I wanted to make sure that we came through the door hand in hand fresh from the honeymoon. I'm so excited fo you :-)
