What are you planning to do with your dress AFTER the wedding? {& laurie88's plan!}

So I plan on taking my wedding dress to get preserved very soon. I just haven't had the time to drop it off! I find it hard to let it go, even if just for a few days. =( It's amazing how attached I have become to one piece of clothing. At first thought 'it's just a dress' but after wearing it on my wedding day I quickly realized it symbolizes so much more. Especially to me.

After my dress is preserved, my dad is building a shadow box frame for me to display it in, I plan to display it most likely in our bedroom, my Dad is installing a light inside to shine down and/or up on the dress. It was totally his idea and I thought it was amazing! I couldn't see just hanging my dress up in the back of my closet, or leaving it in the box it will come back from being preserved in. It's a beautiful dress and I want it to be displayed! I goggled this and was unsuccessful in finding much information, I do know I want my whole dress to be displayed, not folded.

I will keep you ladies posted and be sure to update on the final product when my dad is finished!

How are you ladies planning to display your wedding dress after your big day has passed? Are you selling your dress? If so I'm curious to hear about how you are able to do that! Especially excited to hear back from you brides that are already married because I think we all feel differently AFTER our wedding is over about our dresses!

In September we are planning on doing a "Trash the Dress" Session. Nothing overly bad, just some mud on it and probably will go into water with it. Stuff that drycleaning can come out of it!

I love that idea girlie! I really wanted to do a trash the dress shot but I was thinking about doing it a year from now, which means I couldn't get my dress preserved just yet... still undecided, which is probably why I haven't dropped it off lol can't wait to see pix from your shoot!

I'm just going to preserve it and bag it up. That puffy thing will take up too much room in my closet. FH's grandpa is building me a "wedding chest" and it'll most likely go in there once it's all sealed up.

lol 'the puffy thing' I like the idea of a wedding chest too, but I really want to display my dress, I just can't put it away. It's crazy how differently I felt about my dress AFTER my wedding was over.

I plan on donating one of them to a company for women that arent as fortunate! I am sure someone else can use it more than me.

The other I plan to save for my daughter(if I have one)...Im sure she wont wear it but maybe she could use the pieces of it and make it useful in some way I hope....

Not sure what i'm going to do with mine. But my mom kept her's and I love pulling it out every couple of years to look at it, it's very vintage. I was thinking of getting a photo shoot done in it or my daughter, it's a sexy hippie kind of dress. Not the typical wedding dress.

I love all the ideas. I could see me perserving mine maybe for one of my girls. The trashing the dress sounds fun though! I love doing some good mudding :)
Then theres donating. I tend to donate a lot of our stuff that we arent using. But I will only have one dress so I am not sure I will do that.

We are doing a trash the dress this Sunday. I'm not sure how dirty it will get but I will definitely get it cleaned after that. Then I am not sure what I want to do. I think I will definitely keep it. I like the idea of donating it but I also want to hold on to it for any future daughter. So I think I will keep it but I'm not sure what I will do with it. It will most likely stay in a closet for a while, at least til we have more space.
