Colored Frosting

Does anyone know what type of frosting is best for cupcakes and how to get a deep purple and marine blue color?

I would check out the wilton food coloring----probably found at any bake type store and definitely michaels or AC Moore if you have one near you.  J

I own a cake decorating business and I would go with a french vanilla buttercream, it colours easily and is delicious. Be careful with going too dark with colours, if there is too much dye your guests mouths will change colour and no one wants that hehe
