Bridesmaids
Late 1940's to 1950's Theme

My FH and I have decided that we want an old holywood glamour wedding during the time of the late 1940's-1950's.

So, I have been trying to find dresses that would complement all the bridesmaids and moh...well I am finding it difficult because I have a couple plus size girls. I think to get the full effect I would have to get different styles made for them.

Here are some things I found that I like. Let me know if you have any suggestions as to where I can find some dresses within our theme.

There is another one but for some reason it's not letting me load it. so here's the link.

Oh! and since our colors are purple(eggplant) and blue (navy) I think I would have to have them made accordingly unless I find a place that sells dresses similar to these in which I can get in our colors.

I love the ninth one! and the third one. You could have them altered a bit for the plus size girls so they are more of an empire waist without losing that gorgeous style.
I would probably just have them made, I looked all over for a dress similar to the 9th one but whenever I found one it was over $400! That way you can get the exact fabric and colour you want, and they can be made to fit your ladies.

I've heard that often, having dresses custom made actually costs less than buying and then tailoring bridesmaid dresses.
I think a fitted bodice and a full skirt looks amazing on anyone, especially girls with hips. And Kristah had a good point, if you'd got girls with more of a tummy instead of just curvy thighs and hips, you can have a higher more empire waistline, and then all their trouble spots will be hidden!
Great thing about having dresses custom made - you can choose the fabric, and then give your BMs a selection of styles to choose from. Like that they look coordinated, bu they can all have dresses that flatter their shape :-)

Oooh I found that yellow one (the first one) I have looked just about everywhere for something similar. I really think that you're probably going to have to get something made....

Thanks Ladies! Yeah, I really LOVE the yellow one I think it looks so elegant and dainty. I guess my next area is to start looking at seamstress. I remember my grandma would always get her clothes made in Mexico maybe that would be an option. Probably would be cheaper and I could always find the fabric here or maybe go to a fabric shop there.
