This is IT!
The weekend of my wedding!
Just wanted to thank everyone for their ideas and encouragement along the way. I've got a busy weekend and don't think I'll be on here before the wedding. I'm excited that everything has gone pretty smoothly to this point. Let's hope it continues!

Tonight after work, I have to clean up the house for guests.

Friday, I have to pick up my dress and drop off the centerpieces at the theatre. Then my family and friends from out of town start arriving! The Bachelorette Party start Friday at 7pm. The Bachelor Party starts Friday at 6:30pm.

Saturday, our rehearsal is at 10:30am (because the venue has a wedding that afternoon). Then, we'll go take some pictures with our photographer to make up for the engagement pictures that never happened. Rehearsal dinner is at 6pm.

Sunday (WEDDING DAY!), I'll be taking it easy in the morning until we go to get our hair done starting at noon. Then it's off to the venue to get the last things set up and get dressed. Ceremony starts at 6pm and then we party until we fall over!

Monday, we'll eat breakfast with some of our guests at the hotel.

Looking forward to my weekend. Hope you enjoy yours!

OMG 15 Days Left!!!
Still some things left to do.
So, we have 2 weeks left. I'm printing table numbers as I type. We got the marriage license yesterday (finally!). I have to finish the bouquets and make the table number stands. We're also diying our cake topper and that hasn't been started yet. Oh, and I need to decorate the sand containers.

Other than that, I think I'm ready!

I graduate with my Ph.D. in Behavioral Psychology tomorrow, so that's exciting as well.

I'm not nervous or anything. Just excited to see everything work out!

Hair Trial, Final Fitting, and Centerpieces
Getting things done!
So, we met with the venue to see what centerpieces they have and this is what we decided on. It's simple, but the venue is pretty neat and we didn't want to spend any money or have to clean up. We did have to buy the candles, so we bought blue candles.

I also had my first hair trial today. I like the style. There are twists and braids and it's pulled back to a bun-ish style. QUESTION: Should I wear the veil down or up for the ceremony. Originally I was going to wear it down for the ceremony and up for the reception, but the hair stylists suggested just wearing it up the whole time because she felt it looked better. What do you think?

Finally, I had my final dress fitting today (so I wore my hair trial there, too). The dress is amazing and I'm so excited that the wedding is almost here.

Also, we are taking dance lessons to learn the tango. The first lesson went well. I'm trying to remember to let FH lead and he's trying to learn the steps so he can lead.

Anyway, I'm excited!

2 months left!
I'm so excited!
I put the invites in the mail first thing Monday morning and we've already heard back from some of the local people. I already have 3 RSVPs even! I'm so excited. We are using the online RSVP on TheKnot and it's working. I also included an email address to RSVP and got one RSVP that way. I'm glad people are so on top of it!

My family is further away so they haven't received their invites yet. I'm sure they'll show up in today's mail. I can't wait to get some phone calls about it! We've kept everything pretty secret regarding the details of the wedding, but the invite sets the tone. FH already got several text messages from his side of the family about how they loved the invites.

I'm just so happy that things are in motion. It's about 3 weeks until the first of 2 bridal showers. I'm looking forward to the fun part now that the planning is winding down!

Wedding Invitation
Ready to Send (FINALLY)!
So I've been waiting forever for the invitations to come in and then waiting on the remainder of the addresses and I've finally got them. I put together the invitations, including rehearsal dinner invites, and they'll go out in tomorrow's mail. I'm so excited to finally send them. They are going out a bit late (only 8 weeks until the wedding!), but at last they're ready.

Can't wait for RSVPs to come in!

Wedding Favors
Sarahdarling: Cootie Catchers
Sarahdarling made this for me and we'll be using these as thank yous/favors at our wedding. At first FH was unsure about the idea. He didn't remember how to use them.

Sarahdarling made it in a matter of hours after I gave her the info and she found all our colors. It's exactly what I wanted and now FH loves them, too.

Wedding Dress
Dress fitting
So, I ordered my dress online for $150. Yesterday I had my first fitting. It was very quick and the lady knew what she was doing. The neck strap will be shortened a little, the sides will be taken in, and cups will be added to the bust. Also, she's adding a single point bustle for the back. The total cost of alterations and pressing and a garment bag is $200. So I've essentially got my dress for $350!

I'm just so happy that it's going well. Cant wait for the final fitting April 22nd!

Stressed Out
Behind schedule!
I have 72 days left. That's 2.5 months! I'm feeling very overwhelmed and I'm afraid I won't have everything done in time.

Invitations should have gone out this week, but after finalizing the design 2 weeks ago, I just found out that the designer hasn't even ordered them yet. I wanted to pick them up and send them out this weekend! I'm supposed to give 6-8 weeks to respond, but it's cutting it close. I want people to reply by the middle of May so I have time to call people if they haven't responded yet.

My ring was ordered over a month ago and I got a phone call yesterday from the store saying that it wasn't ordered yet because the notes for the order weren't complete. So, I had to go back to the store and sit down again with them and pick out the details and make sure they wrote it down. They said now the ring will hopefully be done by the end of April.

I'm printing mailing labels on my home printer on these really nice silver labels. Well, I do everything correctly and even run a test page and everything is fine, but when I actually print it on the labels, it cuts off the top part of half of the names. I can't send those out. I want them to look nice, not like junk. I tried to do a few more and got it to be better, but the ones at the bottom of the page are still slightly off.

My MOH is planning 2 showers for me (one in Texas with my family; one in Kansas with FH's family). Well, work is keeping me so busy that we're down to 2 back to back weekends (April 24th and May 1st). She's doing a great job, but invites haven't gone out because we only just picked the dates. My invites haven't gone out yet and I don't want to send out shower invites when they haven't even received the real invitation yet. I feel like that might come across as tacky. Also, my other bridesmaids aren't helping her out.

The attendants should have all their outfits purchased by April 1st, but so far only one has gotten her dress. I understand that everyone is busy and I'm busy too, but I'm concerned that they'll forget or not get what I'd like for them to get because they waited until the last minute.

Sorry for the long vent. I'm just stressed and FH doesn't seem to view these things as time sensitive. He just keeps saying it'll all work out in time, but the reason it will work out in time is if I get on things now.

Wedding Reception
Taking Care of Business
So yesterday we met with the reception site planner and the caterer and the flipbooks vendor to work out details of things. The venue coordinator is really nice and super accommodating. The caterer got the information he needed and the flipbooks vendor found where she can set up, so we're good to go on all that.

We also got to talk to the coordinator about what is included already and what we'll need to get for decorations for the ceremony and reception. For the ceremony, the venue provides an arch with lights. We are allowed to bring in anything else we want and can decorate their arch any way we want. For the reception, they have several centerpiece options (the coordinator is emailing pictures to me) that involve vases and colored stones. The only thing we would have to add to that is candles. Also included are linens and lighting for the venue.

Anyway, the point is that everything is falling in to place and it's making me feel more like I can actually do this!

Our colors are blue and orange - we're going for a city skyline at night sort of theme. The wedding will be very non-traditional.
