Trash The Dress
in the Polar Plunge

A "Polar Plunge" for The Nancy Schonheinz Memorial Scholarship Fund is held every New Year's Day at Ft. Phoenix Reservation Beach in Fairhaven, MA. A bunch of ding-a-lings run into 39 degree water for about 3 seconds and run back out onto the same air temperature beach. Nancy Schonheinz was killed in a domestic violence incident in Fairhaven, MA Nov 2000.

This year, I will be one of those ding-a-lings...in my wedding gown (I have a second dress for this event) I doubt I will ever do it again, though.

This was a spur of the moment idea. My boss does it every year and somehow convinced me of the "cool" idea behind it.

Because of the holidays, I'm still waiting to get in touch with my photographers. Hopefully they will be up for this session on such short notice.

I'm actually really excited about this...TeddyBear on the other hand is being a party pooper. I would love for him to plunge with me, but he's to chicken... I think he's terrified of shrinkage to be honest. Instead, he tells me that I will probably be passed out asleep from the wedding. Hell, I just won't go to sleep that night...and when I hit that cold water I'll wake up for sure!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas btw!

That is a wonderful idea!  I am doing a trash the dress in the snow and thought that would be chilly now I will just think of you in the polar plunge!

Brrr cold.. the thought alone :)
I am really interested in purchasing the trashed dress after the event. No cleaning or repairs needed!
This is a serious en honest request for a good cause!
I hope you want to help me with my charity project as well.
Please don' throw away your wedding dress after the event as the dress can still be used for the project I'm doing.

I will try to restore the dress back into good condition.
I donate wedding dresses after I have restored  them to people in need. Normally I purchase these dresses via photographers after a trash the dress shoot.
They can't afford to buy a dress for their wedding and I like to help them.
I like to work with clothes and it's a joy for me to donate the dresses when they are back in good shape.
You can't imagine how happy these people are when they receive a dress for their wedding.
I can pay a small fee for the dress + shipping.
Donations are of course much appreciated!
I really hope that you want to help. Please don't throw or destroy the dress while you can help people.
My e-mail to contact me is herwyn.w@skynet.be
Thank you for your help and hope to hear from you very soon.
