Save the Date
Our engagement shoot was a little out of the ordinary. Even though soccer has nothing to do with the wedding, We had a soccer themed shoot.
We met in early 2009 on a soccer pitch so we wanted to incorporate something footie into our wedding! So these are some pics, Thanks to noellannephotography.com I'm excited to have a save the date card to send to friends and family. I hear a lot of people say that they like Save the Dates and others say otherwise. It's a small personal touch and very helpful to out of town guests, so on that note I will be sending out Save the Dates in February, 6 months before the wedding :) |

Cake Table
I have a vision in my head of what I want our cake table to look like but the more thrift shopping i do the more i realize i'm either going to have to spend a fortune or just do with what I can find!
I'm good with the later. I put some of the items i've collected so far together for a mock cake table and so far i'm in even more love than the picture in my head. All i'm missing is the suitcase I want the cake stand to sit in and the doily tablecloth i still have to make. :) |

Evolution of a centrepiece..
It's fun to have an idea and watch it come to life. I had a vision of a wedding centrepiece that is simple, unique and me. It was turning out to be very hard to decided what I liked the most! I tried thinking back to the weddings i'd been to in the past and trying to remember the table settings and centrepieces and I couldn't. I then felt bad I couldn't remember something that someone worked so hard on.
I'm really into the mason jar look, it's simple, clean and pretty with a candle or used as a vase. I also LOVE the look of burlap, again, simple, natural and earthy, also sheds a lot which i'm learning! So why not combine the two. I also really fell in love with the idea of using old hardcover books for centrepieces, so far i've found only books with rips, tears and fun colours! Exactly what I need. My last inspiration for my centrepiece is tea pots! Not too sure how that came about but I wanted to incorporate tea pots into the mixture. So my pictures show from my first attempt at making what I had in mind to 3 months later Actually being much closer to the finished product! |

Why I love Etsy!!
Ever since the day i discovered Etsy I have loved looking up what fellow geekers have created for Zelda.
I bought the cuff links the day I saw them (about 2 days after being engaged) and the garter belt more recently. These are the few Zelda hints i'm looking to drop into the wedding for anyone expecting me to dress up in full costume.. not going to happen. I'm also looking to getting custom wine glasses etched with triforces with "mr." and "mrs." on them :P |

Up to date...
The absolute hardest part of wedding planning for me was the location. My fiancee and I searched high and low for a location. I knew I wanted an outdoor wedding with a lot of trees and green grass. We checked out every park in Winnipeg, found an amazing spot at the leo mol garden at Assiniboine park but they couldn't accommodate our guest list. We also found an amazing tea house, The Pink ivy teahouse in Richer MB but again they couldn't accommodate parties over 30. It wasn't until my family called me from lunch at Pineridge Hollow and told me if i didn't get married there I was crazy. And they were right! It was love at first sight for Jeremy and I. The atmosphere was perfect, the food is amazing and the employees are fantastic! Needless to say we put our deposit down and set the date!
Since setting the date and knowing the layout of my big day i've started to get really excited about the little details...centre pieces, flowers, colours, linens, songs.. you name it! http://pineridgehollow.com/weddings |

Introducing Zelda and Link
When I tell people I am planning a Legend of Zelda themed wedding they say "wow your husband is a lucky guy" but in reality I am the lucky one! I gave my fiancee a choice, we can name our first born daughter Zelda or we can have a Zelda themed wedding... He chose the wedding.
So begins the Adventure of Linda, where my plan is to create a Princess wedding with hints of Pink, Green and Triforces. The first thing I did was go out and buy my cake toppers! It took me three weeks to get them both, Link came from a comic book store and I found Zelda on ebay (shown in picture). In the near future i'm going to pick up some tool and make her a vail. After the cake toppers were home and safe I realized I have a lot more work to do, I have a year off from work (on maternity leave) and am going to try to do as much as i can before i go back to work. Next up... Location location location! |
