So this part was so hard and I admit that I started searching for a venue about 2 years ago when I moved here. I had always thought that I would get married on beautiful Lake George, NY. Unfortunately the budget gods were not smiling on me and I can't afford any of their venues - not the ones I want anyway. Plus it would be a haul for our families so we've opted against it.
We're getting married at the lovely and wonderful Birch Hill in Schodack, NY (www.birchhillcatering.com) and because our wedding is on a Saturday in June, even though it is well over a year away, we gave them the deposit to hold the date for us. What can I say, I like to plan ahead.
So we've decided on the Pondside Pavilion for the Reception. It has a solid floor and a roof, but no walls. Its next to their pond with a fountain which means it should make for a beautiful evening.
You can see a few pictures of the pavilions in the photos I've attached. We've decided to go with the traditional round tables instead of picnic tables. Our two grandmothers would really like to have chairs with backs on them, not bench seats.
I think the photos with purple accents might have been from a wedding. I'm not sure because lots of groups rent these pavilions out for events. Shawn's company picnic is there in June of 2011.
