Colors
FINAL!
So after a meeting with the florist we have decided on a color scheme of navy and pink/peach. I started getting crafty and I even made my own pomendar ball - I plan to use them during the ceremony on the ends of each row of chairs.
So glad to have the colors finalized. Still unsure about the flowers - looking at purchasing online vs. using a florist - but we will wait until the final quote comes in this week for the florist. I can't wait to figure out some more crafts I can start working on, 115 days until the wedding? No way! |

Wedding Reception
Can't wait!
So - we have made a HUGE decision! To go with an oudoor ceremony at our recpetion location. There is a small marina located directly behind the hotel that we will plan on having the ceremony (with the rain location being in the reception room - not ideal, but EASY!)
The entire hotel is beautiful, but we are most excited about having the ceremony outside and the cocktail hour on the veranda behind the hotel. What better way to have an easy seamless day than to have it all in the same place! We have the DJ booked - a PHOTOBOOTH booked (how awesome - this is my favorite part so far!) - the wedding planner booked - and we are working on centerpieces this weekend. It is all coming together - how amazing :) |

Wedding Flowers
Colors...
So I have been having a difficult time grasping a "theme" for our wedding. While my Fiance and I tend to be laid back and casual, we are actually having a more traditional and formal ceremony/reception. One thing I do love to see throughout a wedding though is a monogram, and I think that is going to be incorporated more into our theme. I just made some invitations that incorporate it and i love them! It is such a simple and easy way to personalize your wedding day without being too extravogent.
We are also now looking at adding some more color. My mom wants a "warmer" color to work with - which I am ok with! Now thinking about adding some orange/pink into the mix to brighten up the add and add a ltitle more texture. I meet with a florist for the first time tomorrow so we will see what her thoughts are! ONE QUESTION i have is... I cant decide whether or not to have an all white bouquet or a colored bouquet. I really dont know... 4 months! Getting very excited... |

Wedding Decoration
Moving along...
Now! 151 days. I feel like I have come so far, looked at so many pictures! Made so many decisions! And then... I log into theknot.com and I have only completed 51 of my 283 "tasks" they so graciously assigned to me (and I might add that 45 are currently 'overdue' according to their calendar)
Here is what I do know/have: I KNOW the entire wedding party. the location of the reception, the price of the dinner buffet, and the timeline of the reception. I know the color scheme, basic flower concept (we will see if it works with my very basic budget!), and cost estimates of a few DJs that are available and highly recommended. I HAVE the centerpieces, bridesmaids gifts, favor ideas, napkins, guest list for the showers, sent out save the dates. Here is what I do NOT know: The ceremony location (why oh WHY is this so difficult?!), the officient, ceremony music, cost of flowers, chair covers or not (this is more of an internal debate with myself and my budget), details of the alcohol situation, how I will wear my hair, my shoes, what kind of shoes the bridesmaids will wear, invitations, etc. etc. Every day I browse the wonderful net and look at wedding pictures to get ideas and inspirations. I have spent much of today looking at hairstyles. My sister (and MOH) will be doing my hair on the wedding day, so we will play with it over the summer to see what looks the best. Lately I have been really enjoying the loose bun with fresh flowers. It is just so simple and pretty! Now, no more decisions will come for a few days at least, but I am so looking forward to the wedding. For me, it will be three things: 1 - Beautiful 2 - Fun 3 - Meaningful ... and filled with all of my closest famiyl and friends!! And I cannot wait. Everyone better bring their dancing shoes and get ready for the chicken dance. Come on, you know you like it! |

Bridesmaids
Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch- CHANGES!
Brown and Orange
Green and White Royal Blue and Yellow.... and the WINNER IS: NAVY and WHITE/YELLOW! That's right, my colors changed 4 times. FOUR. Finally, I decided to end the madness. Bridesmaids: order your dresses! This is the real, actual, true, it won't change, color scheme! This picture is where I got the inspiration from for the colors - I love it! So, the color is chosen. Major hurdle, overcome! Now, I am working on the timeline, and the budget (of course). Those are my next two things to check off the list. My major checklist for the next few months: Ceremony Location Timeline of Day Florist DJ Favors etc etc Those are the major ones. 169 Days to go... this is going to be great! |

Starting Off...
I think about it 24/7 so I might as well write about it!
Well, I have been engaged for about 2 1/2 at this point, with the wedding 6 1/2 months away, and I all have to say is - WOW! I can't believe more people don't elope!
While I have enjoyed the last few months, they have been rather eye opening. When faced with weddings, people react differently, and I am not sure I can quite understand it all. I have found you have three major different types of friends once you enter the wedding planning phase of your life: 1 - The, "OH MY GOD YOURE GETTING MARRIED!" This is the friend who, seemingly, wants to actually talk about your wedding as much as (maybe even more than!) than you do. She supports all of your decisions, gives HELPFUL input, and genuinely is excited. This is the MUST HAVE friend of the event. 2 - The, "THATS GREAT! I'M HERE WHEN YOU NEED ME!" This is the friend who, when you need advice, is there. Otherwise, she stays out of your bridezilla path and let's you go along planning as needed. They are excited and happy to talk about your details, but it is a bit more toned down. This is the average friend, and, we are all thankful. 3 - The, "Cool. Now, about something me..." While not negative about your getting married, they stray from the topic and are just as happy to be talking as if it is not even happening. This is a good friend to keep you in check and bring you back to reality, although, who actually wants reality when they are planning their dream wedding? And, don't get me wrong, everyone doesn't fit nicely into one category, but everyone is a mixture of some of these attributes. And of course we have the random negative people, but we won't even spend time exagerating on them... That is where I am right now. I am so happy to have so many wonderful people supporting me. I am happy to be planning the marriage to a wonderful man. I am happy to be right here. More to come very soon... |
