May Have Found the Shoes!
First off let me say Happy New Year to all my brides to be and those who finally tied the knot!! I can't believe I haven't blogged on here for almost two months! Eek! I have so much to post, I just don't know where to start!
So while trying to find my dress for New Years Eve, (it's a tradition for me to Go Big or Go Home on that date. Yet another reason for setting the date for 12/31 next year!) I came across these shoes I just could not resist. I knew I wanted red for other reasons that will be discussed in a later blog sometime. I am not sure if they are "the ones", but they are a definitely a keeper! I ended up getting them on sale too, which was even better! I think they will be perfect attention grabbers :) I may see if I can find a set of rinestone broaches to add a bit of bling, but other than that I think they may be just what I was looking for! Wedding Reception
Booked our site!
So we finally got the deposit paid on our site. I was extremely happy that they had the date open and it is the same price regardless of it being on a holiday. This was basically the only place I wanted to have the reception after I found out another ballroom had closed back in July.
This is the best picture I could find thus far. It is an elegant historical ballroom here in town. It has capacity seating of 360 with an additional seating for 60 in the balcony. It has a stage for the band/dj (we haven't decided what we want yet) and a huge bar. I think it is the right capacity, because we aren't planning on having a ton of people there. I like the idea of the balcony too. I would love to have a balloon drop at midnight, since it is New Years Eve. I think it has so much potential and is exactly what I want! The lady told me I can stop in anytime if I need measurements or want to move things around for ideas. I am so excited that things are slowly progressing! Happy Planning - |

Colors
So I am driving myself crazy with colors. It really shouldn't be this complicated at all, and the FH is understanding why I am frustrated and making myself crazy because I am constantly changing my mind.
I know I want white, for obvious reasons and because it is a winter wedding. The silver goes well with the white and adds the bling and sparkle :) I am not sure where I came up with the black; I am guessing because I know I don't want white table cloths? I have no idea. So the more I keep looking at things I continue to want pink. I just am not sure how to put it all together. I have already done white centerpieces, so I really don't want to start that all over again. I also have the ring bearer pillow in white, which I shared earlier. I also have the card box almost complete and that is silver, and I'm not so sure I really want to start that from scratch again either. I know the guys are thrilled about the idea of pink, and I don't want to look back fifteen years from now & be bummed that I put my bridesmaid in pink, another reason the silver came in. I know I don't want them in black, even thou for the formal wedding idea I have it would look elegant. So anyway, (sorry my thoughts are running like a mile a minute) should I drop the black all together and have silver table cloths, dresses etc and keep white and pink for the centerpieces? Or should I say screw it and throw all four colors in together somehow? Any feedback is supported, so I don't end up pulling my hair out :) Happy Planning - |

Bridesmaids
Will You Be My Bridesmaid?
I had the day off from work today so I thought I might as well get a start on my cards for my bridesmaids. I must say it was tedious and took me a good five hours to get them how I wanted them. The hair was the worst!
My FH came home from work tonight and wanted to know what the paper dolls were for and why they were all girls. I just rolled my eyes :) He was glad to know I was being crafty on my day off and not bored out of my mind. I am having a total of six girls, since the FH has six guys in mind and I don't want to make anyone walk alone. I made two other girls, but I am still debating on which two girls to have. I have a lot of friends and it's a very touchy subject. I don't want to hurt anyones feelings either, but for some reason I know that is going to happen and I am dreading it. So for now, the four that are completed can just hang out alone until I make up my mind. I'm wanting to get the next part completed this weekend, but I have a pretty busy schedule for the next four days. Happy Planning - |

Wedding Planner
NYE Wedding
As most of you can see from my info that we are planning a New Years Eve wedding next year. Tomorrow we have arranged to meet with a lady at the reception ballroom (which I was so happy they had an opening for that date) to go over details.
My issue is that now some of my family members are making a huge deal about us planning it on that day. "Why would you want your wedding that day? Don't plan on a lot of people showing up! You know a lot of people go out of town for other events for that day. Hello, we live in Iowa, what happens if there is a blizzard?" Personally, the FH and I thought it was a great idea. It falls on a Saturday next year. Out of town family will be around because it is the holidays. People won't have to worry about what they will be doing to celebrate & no one will have to pay for anything. We figured if we were going to have a celebration with friends and family we might as well have them celebrate more than just a new year, but a new beginning for both of us. So tonight after the woman called about our appointment, all I keep hearing in the back of my mind is all the negative comments people have been making. So I'm hoping all of you could give me input, are we being totally stupid to plan it for that date? I appreciate everyone's feedback! Happy Planning - |

Ring Pillows Came!!!
I know this really shouldn't be in the Bridesmaid category, but it's the closest thing since there is not an actual wedding party category.
So I've been MIA for a couple days, but I have still been lurking around the site & continuing with my DIY projects. I had to share how excited I was today when my pillows were delievered! I am going to have two ring bearers, one is my son and the other is my nephew. They are more like brothers, so I couldn't have one without the other. I was very happy with the pillows, they will match my dress perfectly & fit with the the whole bling theme. I may add a couple feathers to spruce them up a bit more, but I just had to share because I thought they were gorgeous :) Happy Planning - |

Centerpieces
So I finally had a day to myself and decided to use some time and start the centerpieces. I bought a few items just to see if I could work with it. I actually was pretty impressed & it it didn't take too much time! I will add some bling to it and I'm not totally sure what I am going to do with the vases, but they will not be left plain.
I'm anxious to see what the FH has to say when he gets home from work! |
