Purple Vendor Review The Chateau Resort in Tannersville, PA

Vendor Review
The Chateau "Resort" in Tannersville, PA
Hey Ladies-

I will fill you in on details from my big day, but for now... Here is a follow-up e-mail I sent to the management of my venue, The Chateau Resort in Tannersville, PA. Pocono brides beware!

To Whom it May Concern-

It has been 4 days since our guests left the Chateau Resort with bite marks cased by an infestation of some sort in said hotel. None of them have received even a courtesy call from the hotel management. Obviously your hotel does not care to maintain its reputation, nor does it care about basic human decency or good business practices. No one deserves to be treated with the disrespect that the Chateau Resort showed its guests over the weekend of October 1st, let alone paying customers.

I am awaiting the results of the "pest inspection" that we were told would happen after evidence of a pest problem was found. Whether or not this inspection is completed, I expect to hear from the general manager by the end of the day tomorrow. Furthermore, it would be wise for the hotel management to keep in mind that they were aware of a pest issue prior to this weekend - as evidenced by the existence of pest traps/deterrents in room 3317 - rather than to try and blame the infestation on the current guests of the hotel.

Still Awaiting a Response,

Ask a Question
Grand Entrance Songs?
Hey Girls! I was just going through my music list, and I am wondering song(s) everyone is using as for the introduction of their bridal party and their grand entrance at their reception?

Right now I am thinking we will do Black Eyed Peas "I Gotta Feeling" for the bridal party/parents (though I think it might be a bit over done) and "Superman Theme" by John Williams to introduce the hubby and I.

So what ideas do you girls have??

Bridesmaids
::Dresses Ordered!!::
I placed the order for the bridesmaids dresses today! Our bridal shop was running a "March Madness" sale so we got 20% off too!

I was in Chicago for my "bachelorette weekend" this past weekend and we did a little bridesmaid dress shopping. I really expected that we would just confirm that we would be going with Alfred Angelo style 7016 but the girls liked this Bill Levkoff dress better. The color is more like Alfred Angelo's Eggplant than the Grape that I was going to choose.

I am a little concerned about how the color will look in pictures so I have been seeking them out outline.

We tried the dress on in House of Brides in Chicago. That experience wasn't so much fun. Our consultant was late and didn't pay much attention to us, nor was she very helpful. They took our measurements (well, the girls, not mine) but then wouldn't tell them to us. We decided that that was not the place to order them from, so we ended up just ordering them from a store in my hometown where I got my gown from.

I can't wait for them to come in!

Wedding Decor
Pearls and pumpkins :)
I love the look of the oversized pearls in the votives with floating candles! I was thinking of incorporating those and gold and white mini pumpkins into my decor, but I'm not really sure where I want to use them.
At first I wanted to use them for the cocktail hour decor, but the cocktail hour is being held outdoors and I want to choose some decor that works better with the fall foliage.

Maybe I will use this pearl idea for the cake table or something and go with eggplant and burgundy pillar candles with orange mini pumpkins for the cocktail tables...

I need to get back to the drawing board on this one :)

Ask a Question
The Guest Count Ball and Chain
I feel like I am at such an impasse in my wedding planning because I have NO IDEA how many guests might be coming! I am guessing that it is between 115 and 130 but it could be more like 100 or 140.

I met with my florists a few weeks ago and they asked how many centerpieces I would be needing. I don't know! For every 8 to 10 additional guests that come I will need an extra centerpiece. Maybe I will need 12 or maybe I will need 17. It doesn't seem like a big difference but when you are paying $50 to $100 for each one, it does!

The same issue arises when ordering my favors or even deciding how big of a room I need to hold the reception.

Is anyone else having issues with not being able to make definite plans because its too far out to get an accurate head count? What are you doing about it? Do I just have to wait until closer to the wedding to make these kinds of plans?

Wedding Invitation
<3 them. Waiting for my samples!!
I ordered samples of these invites from David's Bridal in a few different colors. I can't wait to get them! I hope that they are great in person. I have had the hardest time finding invites that I really liked at a decent price. I love that these incorporate both of our colors (the burgundy/plum-ish color and the gold) and that the designed is kind of a nod to autumn.

I was originally going to DIY my invitations, but it just became too complicated and I don't think I would be happy if the end results didn't look very professional.

Excited!!

UPDATE:

I received my samples in the mail today, and I think I have decided to go with this invitation in Sangria! The quality of the invite isn't fantastic, but it isn't terrible either. It was printed nicely and they actually sent it with a ribbon which I didn't expect them to. Overall, I would say that DB's invites are a good value for the price. Note: the paper is a shimmer type, which isn't my favorite, but it is really just a hint of shimmer. Oh, and DB offers FREE samples of invites. I ordered 3 samples and got them all for free!

UPDATED UPDATE:

I placed my order for my invites today! Eeek. I was nervous to do so. I didn't order the response cards yet because I want to put the entree options on there (ie: chicken, fish, vegetarian) and we haven't made a decision about what we are going to pick yet. Gosh I hope our names are spelled correctly when they come!

Bridal Shoes
Jillian by Touch Ups
I caved in to temptation today and bought my bridal shoes. I had enough money to cover them in my amazon.com account so I just went for it and bought them. It was kind like they were free :)

I just pray that they aren't too high...I really don't want to be taller that my FH, and I'm close enough as it is!

***Update***

I got my shoes from amazon today!

I love them! I was worried that the stones might be cheap looking but they are actually sparkly and very nice. The heel isn't too high and they are pretty comfortable as strappy high heels go. The shoes were obviously made with no attention to details as one of the soles was peeling up and there are spots of rust colored something on them (hidden when you are wearing them). Not perfect but they were certainly do. I am quite happy with them.

We did our e-shoot waaaaay back at the end of October, and I am just now getting around to putting them on here :)

We did the shoot in the quaint and beautiful town of Phoenixville, PA outside of Philadelphia.

I know, I know, FH is dressed a little casually (read - needs to shave), but I really wanted us to look like ourselves. The hat was unintentional, he wore it in the car on the way over and then had such bad hat hair he had to leave it on. Oh well, he always wears that hat so it wouldn't look like him if he didn't have it on.

I was really nervous for the shoot and acted like a total weirdo. I couldn't stop nervous giggling and making weird faces. FH was much more collected than I was. I was very proud of him! Usually he is a jerk when it comes to taking pics, but I think he knew how much this meant to me so he actually cooperated. That or he did it because I bribed him with a video game if he behaved! :)

Bridal Garter
It was just too perfect!
I was on the fence about having a garter, but I decided that it was tradition...and I like tradition!

I found this set that I LOVED at A.C. Moore a while ago and it was on sale today (and I had a gift card!) so I finally decided to just get it! It is just so perfect for my wedding with the lace and pearl and its ivory! Even though it is from a craft store it is well-made and looks almost antique.

The only problem is that it doesn't really fit my fat leg! Haha! I didn't really want anyone to take pics of me wearing it anyway, but still. I need to lose weight (gained a lot in the past few months!) so hopefully my legs will slim down enough that it will fit comfortably!

I still don't want to do the whole "taking off the garter and putting on the other girl's leg" thing, but if my FH insists, I will probably still have a gag garter made for the removal (see earlier post) and then he can toss the little one from this set.

We will be having a fun and elegant fall wedding with plum/eggplant and burgundy as the main colors, and lots of pearls and lace. I am calling it my "Victorian Autumn" wedding.
