How do you deal with this?

I told my parents when we first started planning the wedding that no great aunts or family outside of aunts, uncles and direct cousins would be invited. All of my grandparents come form large families and I honestly do not know many of them and hate those awkward situations where you don't know them and you should. I want to look out into the crowd and know everyone's name and not see any strange faces. This was also a way to cut down on costs the more people the more expensive.

My parents were in complete agreement and they said they would deal with their parents inquires into the guest list. But now as the wedding gets closer they have become lax. Now both grandparents want to invite people that are outside of our agreed upon list. But they are from the older generation where family is more important then friends. They think we should invite all these great aunts and uncles and not so many friends.

How do you deal with this? What is the proper thing to say? My Grandma expects her sister to be invited because she lives in the same city. I have not seen this great aunt once since I moved here over 2 years ago. My other grandma wants me to invite her deceased husbands brother because he's coordinating the hand out of some inheritance. I don't even know this person.

Don't get me wrong there are some extended family I would like to invite. Like my Great Aunty Kathy my Dad lived with her for a couple of years after his mom died when he was a newborn. Now she's a special person or my Mom's cousin who we spent summers with.

Do I stick to my original plan and cut-off at no extended family outside aunts and uncles and cousins?

Do I give in?

Do I tell them if they insist these people are invited then they have to pay the $40+ for their meal?

That's how we kept FH's list down, we told his Mom she had to pay $40 for every guest she wanted to invite.

Is anyone else having this problem, whats the right thing to say? I don't want to piss off my grandparents who I love.

Anyone else having a colored wedding dress. My dress is blush and I am looking for other brides who are questioning their colored dress choice? Like what color flowers do I pick with a blush dress? It looks ivory in some lights... Anyone else out there questioning their color choices? I've already changed my accent colors removed the blue entirely as I thought it would clash with the blush.

My boss has a beautiful ranch with a guest house in Priddis, Alberta and he is lending it to us for our wedding night and the gift opening. I'm so excited and grateful to him.

The guest house is huge and it has a pool. Should be fun!

So excited! I can't believe how excited I was last night when I got the e-mail from Romi. I'll post them when I get the CD, they are great, lots to choose from.

I have the CD and Romi was so awesome she made a DVD case cover and CD sticker out of our pictures to make it a nice little package.

I'm going to start a new post of the save the date/x-mas cards she's making. We really lucked out with her!

Hi Everyone,

I had an idea to get the guests involved by asking them to send us their top three songs so we can make sure that our DJ plays them at the reception. This way I can ensure the older guests get their must plays and enjoy themselves. I was hoping to find a web application for people to enter their selections in. Has anyone heard of this? Has anyone heard of other brides doing this? I would include instructions with the invitations.

All because of the dress... I am fine with it though. Looking for ideas to play up these colors not much out there.

E-session is set for October 19th hopefully at Sandy Beach. I will be using these photos as our combined Merry Christmas/We're Engaged/Save the date cards :) Hopefully there will still be some beautiful leaves for the session.

We're in the market for a printer so we can print our wedding invitations and for our home office use. I would like a scanner but the ability to print on different thickness of cardstock is the most important, aspect.

Anyone out there have really good luck with their home printers on their invitations? If so please share.

My Mom, my aunt and my cousin cried when I tried this one on today. I went into Etho's today to try on a completely different dress than the one pictured below (the one below was demoted to second choice yesterday). Just to confirm that the one I came back to try on was the one. I decided to just grab a few more dresses just to make sure and I'm glad I did. Well I grabbed this one on an off chance liking the detail on the shoulder straps and it is now the one I have a deposit on! Its totally different then I imagined myself wearing and I'm still trying to get my head around it, what do you think? I was originally going for simple, but classic and reasonably priced. Well this one was more expensive, fancier but it needs less alterations. Also its a blush color but as you can see in the photos it shows more like a champagne or ivory and not pink. Oh and I am rethinking my color scheme all because of the dress. I think I'll go platinum, ivory and black (no blue, our favorite color) :) Am I nuts?? I am still in shock it seemed to happen so fast

She'll decorate the hall and come and take it down. She'll also set up the ceremony site and take it down after the ceremony. She will be a god send.

I'm hoping Bryce and Luka can walk together maybe holding hands. The ceremony site might be too uneven to use a wagon.

Bryce just laughed and giggled when I brought the cupcakes over. He just wanted the icing :)

Our photographer says the engagement photos are included in the package.

I think we'll just do tied small bunches of flowers for the bridal party, I'm leaning towards calla lilies.

The decorator is going to send me some more pics of ideas we discussed soon.

1:30-3:30 - Is this enough time?
(Locations TBC). I like architectural backgrounds. I am going to find some samples of photos that I like. I also want to capture us having fun with some props.

Ceremony 4:00-4:30PM Photos

Portrait time 4:30-5:30PM
I would like to get some customary family shots in the park and full bridal party.

Wedding party entry into the hall 6:00PM
