Flowers
Fake?
Is there anything wrong with preferring fake flowers over the real deal? It seems so much less of a hassle than the aforementioned. This way, also, I can make the bouquets myself and be sure to get exactly what I want.

That's not terribly tacky, is it? I've never thought anything wrong with it, but the more I look around, the more I see brides not even considering it.

I went browsing for them at Hobby Lobby and Walmart (Spare me the jokes. I love Walmart.), and it seemed so much more reasonable for my price range and for my tastes.

Any thoughts?

Fake is fabulous!

I was going to do fake for all the flowers, but then chose to do fresh for my bouquet and grooms bout. Someone said this to me: "there's something about smelling the fresh flowers in your hand before walking down the aisle that really makes you realize, you're getting married" that changed my mind. Plus, it will be reminiscent of my mother.

I would say for centerpieces, bouquets and boutonnière's go with real... but if you're putting flowers around the altar I'd think that fake is fine.

i can't bring myself to buy fake flowers, they just look cheap and tacky to me when i see them in stores, but when i see the things people do with them they look wonderful. i dunno this is a subject i am having trouble deciding on as well

i just got married this past saturday and i did alll my own flowers......$400 for everything....15 centerpeices, 8 bout, 4 bouquets and 8 pomanders plus tons of petals alll carnations and roses. Granted i stayed up till about 4 am but i got a late start. its true the smell is fab!!! and it really does make a difference......fake is fine for little decorations like the alter but reallly a real flower is soo much more beautiful. I did hand tied bouquets everyone kept complementing me on the flowers there are many videos on he internet that show you how to make things step by step. as soon as i get my pictures back i want you to check it out. besides im not sure how much money you even save doing fake.......

If you like them, do them. It's your wedding. They can look nice if you have talent to make them well.

I think fake flowers are fine.  That's what I'm using.  Of course some silk flowers are horribly tacky, just shop around until you find the perfect ones.

I am going with fresh flowers, apart from my pomanders. My florist is dead against silk flowers and she's constantly trying to talk me out of making the pomanders of silk ones but frankly I can't justify spending a ton of money on pomanders that will be on display only for 30 mins for the ceremony. As the other brides said, make sure you shop around, buy the best quality silk flowers and maybe have your bouquet made of fresh flowers. But of course, it's your wedding and you should go with whatever makes you happy.

If you have time do your own and have them ordered to you. Have them ordered a day or so before your wedding. make sure you have an extra fridge to store them in

I don't see anything wrong with fake flowers. Think of it this way if you are making your own bouquets, wouldn't you rather have time to make them instead of having to crunch time to get them done a day or tow before the wedding. AHHH that is a scary thought. Good Luck. OH as far as the smell you can get sent to spray on them if that is really important to you.

I think that I have decided to go with the real ones,I am not great at flower arranging and I am letting the professionals handle that area for me...real all the way! It will be so exciting when they deliver my boxes of flowers and seeing them for the first time on my special day, they will be delicate but picture perfect on our big day :) Good luck!

I'm using fake flowers for my wedding. A) Better on my budget B) I want to be able to keep flowers from the wedding & put them in a vase & have them on display forever lol! Just do some shopping around & you will find the perfect flowers for you! I've seen some of the fake flowers done for weddings that look wonderful & real! :)

I myself thought about doing silk flowers as well. I decided not to anymore and just decided to do all real flowers. At the time I thought about silk flowers, I was wanting to do all lilies so if I did real lilies, that would have put a huge dent in the bank account. So now we're doing all roses. We're putting in at least a grand in for flowers. Hopefully that's not too much and not too less.

But I don't think doing fake flowers is tacky. It's your wedding. :)
