Wedding Budget
5k Overload!

Budget, budget, budget! When I first set my budget, I just knew that there was no way in the world that I would go over it. I think I may be wrong... I use the budget calculator on weddingwire and after adding everything up my 5k budget is now at close to 8k! Yikes! Back when I first start planning I had an even smaller budget of 3k. OMG! I quickly began to realize just how much things actually cost and bumped it up to 5k. I haven't really start buying too much, so I know there is still hope. Hubby was already not pleased with that because he already think spending a lot of money on a wedding is a waste of money. I know 5k isn't a lot to some of you girls, but it's a lot to us, especially not having any help and having fluctuating hours at our sorry behind job. (Lol, but it's all good!) But fh would have rather just gone to the courthouse to get married. He's just going alone with this because he know it's truly what I want and what I've dreamed of my entire life. So anywhoo, what is you guys budget (If you don't mind me asking) and have you gone over it???? What can I do to possibly bring my budget back down and stick within my original limits????

I'm not the best person to ask about budget. We actually never set one. We just saved for our venue and got everything else along the way. We have been very blessed in our occupations, and our family is helping as well.

Don't get down. Just focus back on your budget and see what you can do to minimize it. I just encourage you to do a lot of DIY projects and really make sure that you are getting things that are needed. Always get things on sale and use VistaPrint.

We never really set a budget either.  We sort of just buy what we can afford.  We are paying for everything ourselves.  I know that Im not easily pleased and picky and that's why we planned to have about a year and 4 months to plan lol.

Right now we are at 25,000 and we have have things to purchase (we have about 73 days to go) I imagine once its all over and done with...it'll have cost about 30-35,000.

I think prices all depend on where you live (big city/small city) One thing that you can do keep your budget down is to keep your guest list as low as possible.

well I do have a budget, and it is a tight one... but I think if you continue to be very frugal and diy alot of things you will be ok... I live in Lancaster PA (usa) and the average wedding here is about 25k I set mine to 8k-10k I had to pinch pennies and diy alot of things and bargain hunt but where allot of girls spend 100+ dollars on their invitations alone I spent 10.00 casue I shopped around and made them amazing I will post pictures tomorrow.  best advice is don't get discouraged keep being positive get your FH involved the more he is hands on the more he will understand the cost and importantce of things

The same thing happened to me using Wedding Wire. I am about $6,000 over budget, and I'm still making additions. DIY as much as you can, and you might have talented friends or family members that can be of use.
