Color Scheme: pink, blue, black, white
One of the other color schemes I'm considering is magenta, tiffany blue, black, and white. I really love these colors, but FH tends to shy away from pink. I thought he may not mind this particular shade since it leans towards the red-pink spectrum instead of a pastel, feminine pink, but he just told me he's not fond of it and likes the blue/orange combo better.

*Update* FH said he likes this combo MUCH better if we replace the magenta with red, which i would definitely consider. Now to figure out if red/blue is too bold to add black and white as well.

In other news, I had a wonderful Valentine's Day! FH bought me this really cute dress, I got my ring back from being re-sized (I missed it oh-so-much!), and we made enchiladas for dinner.

Oh, and in non-wedding related news, I got a job (which is difficult in Michigan's economy right now) AND one of my illustrations made it into the 2010 Student Society of Illustrators competition. For all you non-art people, this competition is a big deal, and this was my last chance to enter since I graduated this past December. Super-super happy right now!

Ask a Question
Last Name Change
I'm sorry. I know I just posted, but there's just so much to write about! And ask about.

Last names. It seems like more and more brides are opting for a hyphenated last name. I, personally, can not do a hyphenated last name because the end result would be 18 characters long and 5 syllables. Buh, no thanks.

However, I'm very hesitant to change my last name to his. I'm a big daddy's girl and I love my last name, plus it's already associated with my art business. Now, both of our last names are very... ethnic. Mine is Dutch, and his is very Polish. My family has a lot of Dutch in it and I'm proud of that, yet neither one of us have any real connection to the Polish side. See, FH is Japanese American and was adopted, so he's really not Polish at all. I have nothing against the Polish, but I have no attachment to a Polish last name, either.

THE PICKLE. His father unexpectedly passed away a few years ago, so FH's last name is a tie to his father. I don't want to hurt FH's feelings by not taking his last name, and I definitely don't want us to have separate last names because I want everyone to know we're married. FH has mentioned some willingness to change his last name to mine... would that be weird?

What are you ladies doing about your last name? Is anyone in a similar situation, or are any FHs taking their bride's last name?

Introductions!
Inspiration Board: Blue/Teal, Orange, Damask
I only discovered WBC yesterday, and I'm already hooked. Being an artist, color is very important to me and I've been searching for great online places to browse by wedding colors. After my initial excitement, I quickly found myself sucked into the community WBC offers brides.

So here I am, starting my own wedding blog!

A brief summary of myself: I have been dating my high school sweetheart for over 5.5 years, and on December 3, 2009 he popped the question. We both recently graduated college and are very excited to see where the road takes us together. Our wedding date is tentatively set for June 17 or 18, 2009. We plan on using black and white (possibly damask) with one or two bright accent colors. My FH is Japanese American and I have always been a fan of Japanese art, so we are going to have a subtle Asian influence in the decor. Still working on the kinks in my mind to make sure everything flows.

I am a freelance illustrator and designer ( http://www.lullafly.com ) so I'm psyched to design my invitations and work on DIY decor projects. Right now, though, my bigest challenge is settling on a color scheme. I LOVE color. Lovelovelovelove. And loving color, I am in love with so many combinations. So it's going to be really hard to choose. To help my FH visualize them, and to allow alleviate my urge to use them all I'm focusing on making color inspiration boards.

This is the first of several, focusing in blue/teal and orange with damask accents.
