I'm not really big on champagne but Korbet? (I just went blank, I think that's the name, it used to be advertised a lot) is pretty good. Just be sure not to get brut and not extra dry! Ug, it's a lot easier to drink.

Depending on what is reasonable for you here are some that I liked in a couple of price ranges.
Roederer Estate Anderson Valley Brut is about $20
Moet is about $35
Pol Roger Brut Extra Cuvée de Réserve is about $40
Bollinger Special Cuvée is about $50
Taittinger Brut La Francaise is about $50

I have to say this: most people do not drink champage on regular basis and probably couldn't tell Korbel vs Cristal

Here are two articles I saw and saved from theknot that someone posted about inexpensive wedding champage

I would recommend Reymos.  It is a product of Spain.  It is slightly sweet and very enjoyable to drink.  It will run between $8-$10 per bottle.  I would also recommend purchasing a bottle of anything you are thinking about serving and tasting for yourself so you know what is being served.

depending on where you are located (State, City, etc.), there is a great champagne from a winery in Temecula, CA.  It is the Almond Champagne and is from the Thorton Winery.  You do not need to serve much and it is by far the best champagne I have ever had!

If you and your FH aren't big on champagne or wine, you don't have to have them unless you're dead set on it. (We're toasting with little cans of coca cola!)
I'm not a champagne drinker at all, but I do like some wines. I really, really, really can't say enough for fruit wines--Flag Hill Winery in NH produces some of the best. I'm pretty sure they can ship them nationally and they range from $7 per bottle to $14 per bottle. Which makes them seem like they wouldn't be tasty, but they are! I am partial to the cranberry-raspberry flavor and the apple flavor!
Good luck!

I love Martini & Rossi Asti. It's very reasonably priced. And delicious! You can buy it in small bottles if you want to try it before buying the full size version.

I second the martini and Rossi Asti. And yeah Korbel, haha, I remembered it right after I left the house. I knew someone would surely mention it

I really like Martini and Rossi Asti spumante. It is about $10 - 15 depending on store. I hate hate hate Korbel! You can totally tell the difference! But, most people only take a sip of champagne, so why pay the big bucks?

Verdi is the best! it's an asti - a bit sweeter than "real" champagne so it doesn't have that bite. it not only tastes really good, the bottle it comes in is really pretty - it's a light blue bottle with a pretty label and gold top. also a plus, it's about $5 a bottle!  a perfect use for favors too! highly recommended!
