DISASTER: Somebody spills something on your wedding gown before the ceremony.
AVOID IT: Ban anything colorful like juice, wine, or dark lipstick from any room you’ll be in while wearing the dress.
COPE WITH IT: White out the stain as much as you can with chalk, and remind yourself all eyes will be on you, not your gown.

DISASTER: It’s raining and your ceremony will take place outdoors.
AVOID IT: Have a back-up plan already in place.
COPE WITH IT: If the venue doesn’t have an indoor space available, get your wedding party to start calling tent companies in case a vendor can accommodate you at the last minute. If this doesn’t work, send your groomsmen out to buy dozens of umbrellas (preferably in white).

DISASTER: Your ring bearer or flower girl refuses to march down the aisle.
AVOID IT: Do several walk-throughs at the rehearsal until they’re comfortable with the routine.
COPE WITH IT: Have the child’s mother stand discreetly at the end of the aisle – preferably with candy -- and tell him or her all he has to do is walk straight to her.

DISASTER: The best man forgot the rings.
AVOID IT: Bring the rings yourself and hand them over to him before the ceremony starts.
COPE WITH IT: Do the ring exchange with your parents’ rings; you can have your permanent rings blessed by the officiant later if that’s important to you.

DISASTER: Your guests exceed the final guest count by about 10 people, so you’re short on food and space at the reception.
AVOID IT: Contact people via telephone who haven’t RSVP’d two weeks before the wedding (feel free to pawn this task off on members of the wedding party, your mom, etc.), and then pad your final guest count by five people.
COPE WITH IT: Tell your catering manager and/or venue manager about the problem and ask them to arrange seating either by squeezing extra chairs around existing tables, or slipping extra guests into a cocktail area where they can munch on appetizers (and vow to each other that they’ll never again neglect to RSVP).

DISASTER: Your band or DJ doesn’t show up.
AVOID IT: Confirm all dates and times the week before the wedding with every vendor you’ve hired, and have a list of contact numbers with you.
COPE WITH IT: Hook an iPod or MP3 player up to the stereo system, and let the dancing begin.

DISASTER: The wedding cake melts, falls to the floor, or never shows up.
AVOID IT: Confirm in advance there is a cool place to store a buttercream cake to avoid a meltdown, and go over transportation, set-up, and back-up plans with the cake designer.
COPE WITH IT: Call local bakeries to see if one will let you ‘borrow’ a wedding cake for photos, and then slice up a sheet cake behind closed doors to serve to guests. If you can’t swing that, send someone out for cupcakes, and act like that was the plan all along (cupcakes are nowadays very fashionable at weddings).

Disaster: It's been six months since you picked out the wedding gown you couldn't live without, and now it's fitting fairly tight. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do -- the wedding is tomorrow!
Experts recommend scheduling a dress fitting a couple months or so before the wedding, so there is time for alterations to be made if you gain or lose a few pounds. Be sure to have your dress cleaned before any alterations are made -- some stores will launder dresses in washing machines to clean them before your big day, which means they could shrink after they have been altered.

Disaster: Your hair stylist wants to give you a truly special look for your wedding day. Trusting her instinct, you let her give you a brand new hair cut -- only to find you hate it. The problem? You have less than a week before you have to walk down the aisle.
To avert this disaster, avoid conducting experiments of any kind the week before your wedding. That means you can forget about dying your hair, getting a tan, or having that chemical peel you've always wanted. You want to look like yourself on your big day, so make aesthetic changes a couple months before so you have time to get used to them. If you're having someone style your hair for your wedding, make an appointment a week or so in advance so they can do a couple test runs and find out what you like.

**Sealed with a Kiss
2 oz chocolate liqueur such as Godiva or Crème de Cacao
1.5 oz vodka
Hershey's Kiss

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice,shake well, and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Put a Hershey's Kiss in the bottom for the added love touch.

**Wedding Cake
•3/4 oz gin
•34 oz Amaretto
•1/4 oz orange juice
•1/4 oz pineapple juice
•1/4 oz cream
1.Pour the gin, Amaretto, orange juice, pineapple juice and cream in a blender with ice.
2.Blend well.
3.Pour into a hurricane glass.
Blend either of these recipes with 3/4 cup of ice and serve in a hurricane glass for a frozen cocktail.

**Blushing Bride
2.0 oz Lemon Lime Soda
2.0 oz Cranberry juice
3.0 oz Orange juice
1.0 oz Vodka
Build vodka, soda, orange juice. Add cranberry juice to the top so it flows down the drink. Garnish with a cherry.

**The Something Blue
•2 oz Hpnotiq
•2 oz white wine
•1 oz ginger ale
1.Build the ingredients in a Champagne flute.
2.Serve and toast to a long and happy marriage.

**Diamond Martini
•dash of premium dry vermouth
•1/2 cup premium grain vodka, frozen
•lemon wedge
1.Chill a cocktail glass.
2.Pour the dry vermouth and vodka into the glass.
3.Twist the lemon wedge over the drink.
4.Run the lemon wedge around the rim of the glass.

**Lemon Drop Martini
1 1/2 oz Absolut® Citron vodka
1 tsp sugar
1/4 lemon
Slice the 1/4 lemon into two seperate wedges. Place in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Pour the Absolut Citron into the shaker, and add one teaspoon of sugar. Shake vigorously. Strain into a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass. Garnish with a lemon twist, and serve.

**Wedding Belle Cocktail
3/4 oz Dubonnet
3/4 oz Gin
1 Dash of Cherry Brandy
1 Dash of Orange Juice
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass, and serve.

**Hot Romance
1/2 shot Bailey's® Irish cream
1/2 shot Goldschlager® cinnamon schnapps
1 dash cinnamon
Fill a shot glass half full with the bailey's irish cream and the rest of the way with the goldschlager. Mix with a toothpick. Sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on the top and light it with a match (it may take a couple of tries to get it to stay lit). Let it burn for a few seconds and gently blow out the flame being careful not to splash the drink out of the glass. Then, drink!

**Wedding Cake Martini:
1oz Stolli Vanilla, 1oz Coconut Rum, 1oz Godiva White Chocolate liquor, dash of cream.

***Relaxing Bath Salts

1 cup Salt - (your choice: Epsom, Sea or Kosher Salt)
1 cup Baking soda (softens your skin)
3 drops vanilla extract
Essential oil of your choice
Food coloring optional

Mix all the ingredients together well. Use anywhere from 2 Tbsp. to 1/2 c. for your bath. Store in an airtight container: maybe a tin tie bag, or a pretty glass jar or bottle.



***Detoxifying Body Scrub

Now that your skin is hydrated, and you're feeling soothed, try scrubbing off some dead skin.

1/2 c. sea salt
1/2 c. raw sugar (the big crystals)
1 Tbsp. coffee grounds (not kidding, caffeine reputedly helps cellulite disappear)
4-6 oz. rice bran oil or olive oil
2 oz. shea butter (optional)
25 drops lemon essential oil
25 drops grapefruit essential oil
10 drops rosemary essential oil
10 drops cypress essential oil
10 drops geranium essential oil
Mix the dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately, then combine them; you are trying for a moist yet somewhat crumbly texture, nothing too goopy. If you choose to add the shea butter, melt it first, then add it to the liquids. If you leave out the shea, you may want to increase the oil. Find the consistency you like, then store the scrub in an air-tight container, like a blue plastic jar. Glass jars may not be a safe choice if you will have this in the shower with you.

***Relaxing Body Oil

After a bath and a scrub, you'll want to slather some body oil onto moist skin to keep it soft and supple. This blend will complement the bath salt blend, but add some deeper notes.

3 oz. rice bran oil
1 oz. jojoba oil
25 drops lavender essential oil
8 drops sandalwood essential oil
8 drops patchouli essential oil
10 drops grapefruit essential oil
5 drops vanilla infusion
Mix the ingredients well, and store the mixture in a disc-top bottle. You can also use this body oil for massage.

Foot Stuff...Add nail polish, flip flops for the reception, or nail gear to the DIY stuff....


***Foot Soak
Use this soak in a foot bath, or if you have a vibrating foot spa, even better. You'll only need a small scoop, about 1-2 TB, and soak until your feet are rested and soft, about 20 minutes.

1 c. Epsom salts -- restores magnesium balance, detoxifies and soothes sore muscles
1/2 tsp. ground peppermint -- optional, but pretty!
1 tsp. jojoba or vegetable oil of your choice
25 drops essential oils
Mix dry ingredients, then combine the oil and essential oils. Add to dry and mix well. Store in an airtight container, either a jar, a square window tin or tin-tie bag works well. Add a ribbon with a note about how to use and you've packaged your foot soak as a thoughtful gift.


***Foot Scrub
Follow up your soothing soak with a scrub. Since your feet are wonderfully hydrated, the dead skin will slough off with ease and you'll be one step closer to pretty feet.

1/2 c. sea salt
1/2 TB ground herbs -- peppermint, rosemary, lavender or any combination
1 TB olive oil or whatever you have on hand -- approximate, as each oil will lend a different consistency to the scrub
20 drops essential oils
Mix dry ingredients, then combine the oil and essential oils. Add to dry and mix well. You are aiming for a crumbly salt mixture; if it is sand-like, you need more oil, if it is soupy, you've used too much. Store in a jar

***Foot Butter
OK, you've got hydrated, soft and exfoliated feet. Keep them that way with this emollient-rich foot butter. Use this every night before bed, and wear socks. You'll wake up to the softest feet imaginable.

3 oz. shea butter
1/2 oz. virgin coconut oil -- at most health food stores
1/4 oz. cocoa butter
30-40 drops essential oils (less if you are using a lot of the minty ones)
Melt all ingredients together very slowly, either over a double boiler or in 30 second increments in the microwave. When melted to a clear liquid, stir and let stand for about five minutes. Stir in essential oils, pour into container and refrigerate until set.

The best containers for the butter are slightly shallow with a wide opening, so you can scoop it out easily, like a flat tin.

To scent these foot-pampering recipes, you can use any combination of:

lavender -- for calming and relaxation
tea tree -- antibacterial and anti-fungal for really clean feet
peppermint -- cooling and soothing for hot, tired feet
geranium -- to aid circulation
cypress -- again, for circulation
or of course, any of your favorites

I know I have posted some of these previously....I am just trying to sort through all of my options and it's easier for me when they are all together :) I want to use lemons (so some of the pics will be lemons instead of limes).

Rub-on Vase **PICS OF THE STEPS ON THE SIDE***

Uses rub-on transfers and a clear glass vase to create a fun, simple decorative piece. Perfect for centerpieces, a wish bowl, toasting flutes, or even votives

What you need:
Clean glass vase with a smooth surface.
Glass cleaner, paper towel
Rub-on transfers (available at nearly every scrapbooking shop and craft store.)
Scisscors
Rub-on tool. (Most rub-on sheets come with a little popsicle stick to do the transfers with…that’s perfect.)

How to:

1.Clean the outside of the glass with the glass cleaner. Dry the glass completely. Rub-ons don’t work well when there are body oils or dirt on the surface.

2. From a sheet of rub-ons, cut out the design you want to transfer to the glass.

3.Place the cut design, face (sticky-side) down on the glass.

4.With one hand, hold the transfer paper in place. With the other hand, use the transfer tool (popsicle stick) to rub the back of the design. Firmly pressing down as you rub will transfer the design to the glass. Sometimes it takes several passes to get the transfer to stick. Don’t worry. That’s normal.

5.As you rub an area, pick up the edges of the paper just a little bit. You’ll be able to see where the transfer isn’t sticking. Just go back and rub, rub, rub.

Notes:
-Rub-ons are available in hundreds (thousands?!) of different designs.
-Most are available in black or white but many manufacturers also have them in full color. Cool, right?
-The bummer is that most packages have only 1 sheet per package with several different designs/motifs per page. If you need to have all matchy-matchy vases, you’ll need to buy several packages of rub-ons and that can get spendy.
-The package used in this project, from Tinkering Ink, cost $6.99 at my local scrapbook store. Not outrageous, but definitely something to consider when you’re budgeting.
-Rub-ons can be used on paper, metal, class, tile, wood … nearly any smooth surface. And they work on any color surface, too.

I am really having a hard time deciding how I want to do my table linens. My colors are black and white with yellow. I would like to do the tables in black and white and have a yellow centerpiece ( put in a pic of ideas of centerpieces that I plan on using)

Browsing today..I found this idea on DIYbride website. Not sure how it would look with a candle in it, but it would be cute with my black white and yellow theme. You could draw something neat on em or...I don't know..haha!! Have to think about that one.

Supplies Needed

Chalkboard paint (found at craft stores and home improvement centers)
Votive cups
Newspaper or other covering to protect your work surface
Well-ventilated work area (do this outside if at all possible)
Chalk
Instructions

-Cover your work surface with newspaper.
Wash and thoroughly dry your votive cups. This removes any gunk and fingerprints to ensure you get a nice, even coverage of paint.

-Turn the votive cups upside down on the work surface. (So you don’t spray inside the cup.)

-Spray the votives with chalkboard paint. Hold the paint can about 8? - 12? from the cup and spray lightly. Too much paint will leave runny marks down the side of the glass.

-Let the paint dry per manufacturer’s directions. (About an hour should do. Your time may vary.)
-Add another coat, if you want. Sometimes it takes a 2nd to cover any spots you may have missed or to get a good base on larger pieces.

-After the paint is dry, write your message on the votive. Voila!

Notes
-The paint is seriously stinky! I highly recommend spraying outside.
-Really let the paint dry completely between coats and before using.
-If the paint is even the tiniest bit wet, it’ll peel away from the glass when you try to write or you’ll leave permanent chalk indentations.
-Terra cotta pots work well for this as do larger pieces like vases, bowls, wine bottles, jars. You can use stone, wood, tile — just about any hard surface.
-Mask off parts of your project to create little areas of chalkboard instead of spraying the whole thing.
-Don’t spray inside the cup if you’re going to use it for food. The paint is not non-toxic.
-I that the big pieces of chalk (like for sidewalk art) that had a pointed end were easier to use than the standard skinny chalk sticks.

As with many of you...I would like to have a candy buffet...YUM! I am a candy-o-holic and most everyone knows that so this fits well with me.

I have been searching for alternative ideas for the bouquet toss..I don't know why, but I just have never really understood this idea. The past weddings that I have been to, it's always so hard to get people to participate...but anywho I like this one.

*Break-away bouquet.
--Make several mini bundles of flowers (hand tie the stems, and attach a charm to each bundle)
--gather the mini bundles then tie a wide ribbon around the group (do not knot it), make it so when you throw it you can hold onto one end of the ribbon and set the mini bundles free.

--Each mini bouquet with a charm, each charm has its own meaning . When thrown the bouquet breaks apart, and it is also a surprise which charm (or wish) each maid will receive.

Good Idea! Place your vows in a frame and have it set up next to your guestbook! Plus..you can keep it afterwards!!

Here are some that I have found so far. I have NO CLUE what I am going to do yet though :)

I found this on a website. I know that I will eventually make one of these!

Instructions for "Mrs." Rhinestone tank top.
* Use a word document to type out the phrase you want on your garment (e.g.: Mrs.. Hope) using the font of your choice. I used fonts that I downloaded for free from www.cs-fonts.com

*Print out your document.

*Make sure the letters fit on the garment you have chosen.

*Now you must use the reverse image of this to make your iron-on transfer. They way I did this was placed the print out of Mrs.. Hope upside down on my glass coffee table with a desk lamp underneath it to make the letters still viable.

*I placed the sticky Mylar® paper on top of that print out with the sticky side up. This is where you make your design.

* Take the iron-on rhinestones and place them with the iron-on side towards you, shiny side down on the sticky paper.

*One you have finished placing the rhinestones over your entire design, replace the white backing layer to the Mylar® paper to protect your design, or if you wish to iron it on right away you may now proceed. (What I did was replaced the backing to the design so I could flip it over and see if there were any rhinestones that needed to be shifted a bit)

*When you are happy with your design, remove the white backing, place the sticky paper with the rhinestones on it onto your garment, you will be able to see you design through the clear paper. Now you may iron it on.

*Place a thin piece of cloth or the TEFLON sheet between the iron and the sticky paper so it does not melt to your iron.

*Use an iron with a high heat setting, but with NO STEAM. DO NOT move the iron back and forth, lift and place the iron when you want to move it as to not shift any of the rhinestones.

*Once you think the rhinestones have set onto the garment, try and remove the sticky paper. If you rhinestone are not sticking to the garment, replace the sticky paper and iron some more.

They match perfectly with the dress I bought for friend's wedding. They also look great with jeans. Get em while they're hot!!!

My fiance actually designed this. I LOVE my ring! I think he did an awesome job. The only problem is finding a band to go with it :( I've been searching for a year now and no luck!
