Ask a Question
Vacation Places during Hurricane Season?

Okay so this isn't wedding-related but I thought that you lovely brides may be able to help me out because you've planned your fantastic honeymoons.

My mom wants to take a trip to an all-inclusive during the third week of August. Where is a good place to go that won't be affected by the Hurricane season?

Thanks lovelies!

Good question....

I think the caribbean is the best location when you think of fanatstic all-inclusive resorts but unfortunately hurricane season does affect all the islands.

Luckily, just because its hurricane season does not mean there'll be a hurricane.

I live in Jamaica and we've had 4 hurricanes over the last 30 years, Two of which caused major damage and the other two only gave us some well needed rain and the ones that caused damage did not affect the tourist resorts where the hotels are located.

My advice would be to choose one of the big islands if she wants to go to the caribbean.

My FH and I are going to Mexico for an all inclusive that same week.  I know its storm season but I've know lots of couples who've gone at that time before and its been great...plus its cheaper!

I've been to the Caribbean during this season before and it rained everyday but only for about a 1/2 hour then it got hot and dry again in about 5 minutes.

I don't think you should try to plan around a possible disaster that is not yet in the forecast. I live in Florida - huge vacation spot - and we've had rain and we've had storms, and potential hurricanes - but to be honest I am not letting it effect my wedding or honeymoon choices.

If I were you I would make sure that in case there is a TS or Hurricane forecasted by NOAA that in your bookings for your honeymoon there is clause that you can possible reschedule till after the storm has passed.

Yet, there is no good way to avoid a storm - they are so unpredictable.
