DIY Brides I Need Your Help!

Ok . I want to make my own invitations but I don't know how to start.
I need your help and ideas please!!!

The other day I went to kinkos and explain to them that I want a
beach invitation. (something like the ones I have here)
They told me that I need a paper with that theme.
I don't think so!!!!

What kind of printer did you use to make your invitations?
What kind of paper?
How can I make a monogram?
What paper do I used for the monograms?
What else do I need?

Any advice you can give me would be appreciated.

These invites seem pretty simple (but beautiful) you can start out by finding  beach pictures (with no text) and saving it to your picture folder. If you like that exact one, you will have to find it in the proper size, and then photoshop out the text.

In Word, you will need to attach the photo by selecting the picture by going to "insert" and then go from there. You will need a high quality printer to have them look decent. If not save to disk, and then bring them to a printer's, like kinkos or office depot etc.

You will want to use high quality paper for a nice finish to any project.

We made our monograms on photoshop. I used templates as examples from DD976Chic's wedding blog.

first of all...download open office (its free!)

http://www.openoffice.org/

When it is complete..... go to Open Office Draw.

Look on photobucket, yahoo. google for beach images.

type in beach backgrounds, then save the picture as.

Open the picture up in Open office Draw

Also, you can use blue cardstock and then glue the invitation on top to give the invitation more depth.

I would suggest using Vistaprint to make your RSVP postcards.

I found this website that has a video on how to make a monogram. I used it and it seemed to help. You just have to have a good eye and patience! Good Luck!

You can make a monogram in power point. You play with the fonts in there and once you think you have what you like save it as a .jpg Then from there you go to paint or an editing program to size it down, so there is not white all around it ... If you want more info or some ideas on how to get started on how to make a monogram just message me!

It may be cheaper to order and less stressful...but here you go...

How to make a monogram
I found instructions how to make a monogram
Creating a custom monogram is simple using Microsoft Word. All you have to do is create a text box for each initial in your monogram and arrange the boxes so they're spaced to your satisfaction. Easy!

1. Open Microsoft Word
2. From the DRAWING toolbar, click the "text box" button.
3. Type your initial in the text box you just created.
4. Do this for each initial of your monogram. (For example, if you''re monogram is SMT, you'll need three boxes.)
5. Format your text boxes to feature NO FILL and NO LINE.
6. Now click on each text box and drag it to the placement and spacing that suits you.

Hints & Tips

* For PC users, if you use the arrow keys while holding down the Ctrl key, this will give you more precision in moving the boxes than if using only the mouse.
* Use different fonts and color combinations to create a beautiful and unique monogram.
