So I know the bride isn't supposed to plan her own bridal shower, and I'm not "planning" it. It's at least 8 months away. But I just had an idea and wanted to share it.

I love the 40's and 50's. I love the old houswife standards, I get a kick out of them. I LOVE pin ups, and have a nice little collection of them going. Vargas is by far my favorite. Anyway, we're doing a "elegant, vintage" wedding. Nothing costume-like, nothing over the top. But my girls will be in a Jackie O style dress, and will wear gloves. My dress is very 1950's.

So if anyone asks.... I'd LOVE a 1950's themed bridal shower. I want it to be done the way bridal showers were done in the 50's. Kitchen goods, household products. I want everyone to include a recipe with their gift. I would serve tea sandwiches, and mini cherry pies. We'd play old school Bridal Bingo and be girly. Most importantly, everyone would dress in traditional 1950's dresses, heels, and victory rolls in their hair! (well i guess not everyone would have to go so overboard, but 50's dresses are required!)

love it too!!! my bridal shower is prob about 6 months away and i was thinking of dropping hints like this to my mom and moh...i wonder if they'll get the hint?

That's the theme that my shower will be. My MOH had been asking me and that's the thing that kept coming to mind. Stepford style! We'll have quiche's and a few other things. I even found adorable recipe cards that I printed out to give to my MOH. We both love the idea but are curious as to what some others will think. My mom already purchased the invitations and everything. I love that era. I have always wanted to be a "perfect housewife" or what I call a trophy wife, so this theme fits my "ideal occupation" perfectly.

i wanted something like this as well..
they have a wine called "mad house wife"
it would be perfect to serve, if your a wine drinker!

if not, martinis for sure!
