The Proposal
Making a house a Home
After Grant and I started dating, we had the usual discussions about past relationships and I said I wouldn't consider moving in with someone again unless I had a ring on my finger.
Almost two years into our relationship, we realized it was kind of silly paying two mortgages on two seperate condos (and I was never at mine) and decided to start looking for a house together. We had a very specific wish list and were starting to think we may never find our dream home as the real estate market in Calgary was a wee bit crazy at the time. After a few months, we finally headed out one cold night and the first stop was the house we'd desperately been searching for. We had to fight for it but in a few short hours... we had bought our new home! A few months later, came the big move in day. Grant had set it up with our realtor to surprise me with flowers and champagne... and he surprised me with a ring! He had remembered my comments and knew he had to make an honest woman out of me! Of course with movers everywhere I was a bit stunned and it was only a few hours later when everyone had left that it finally hit me! Not only were we going to build our house into a home but we were going to start building our lives together at the same time. |
