Whew. It's time to get started planning a wedding. I hope to post at least 2-3 times a week although I'm just starting and I'm unsure of how that will go, but that's my goal. Since not much is known I'll give a small background and then get started on the fun stuff...the planning.
OK, I met "Mr. Wonderful" (that's what my family calls him) in February of 2008. I've always had the feeling that if I were to ever get married that things would go quick(in which they are). We started dating officially in June of 2008. I was going through some hurdles in life and from the period of about May - June he was a really great friend to me and we would go to the river walk along the St. Johns River everyday just to walk and talk and to (as he would say) "Chilax".
That moved to dating which moved to wedding talk around late August/ September.
So why so late with blogging? Well... He proposed on the greatest night that their could ever have been for me and this country included. So at the same time the Nation found out that they had elected and African American President, I was being proposed to. WOW. Sniffle Sniffle.
The wedding planning began and kicked into a higher gear. Finances were a little rocky as I'm sure every ones are when you have a goal in mind, obstacles come to get you side tracked. We had First thought...February of 09, (he wants a Spring Wedding and Spring of 2010 is too far away) but I had a lot going on in that month so I asked if I could push it back and he agreed to March 28th. Well it turns out that our venue ended up getting reserved for that day so we had to coordinate a date that was great for the church and our venue together. Talking about stressed. Yep that was and is me. Finally on Friday Jan. 2 ,2009 my church notified me that May 3, 2009 would be alright.
For those ladies out there I will post all decisions about things that I have accomplished so far just for the experience. I wanted to blog for sometime but was a little apprehensive until I just sat down and began. I hope that this helps others in similar situations I've read a lot of lovely blogs but none with bumps in the road and I certainly have a few to share. I have a lot of diy projects for the wedding planned for the diy brides out there and I look forward to all of the comments, questions and emails. Lets roll.
Did anyone else get engaged quick or had a short engagement?
