Engagement
It's official!
Eric and I are officially engaged! He popped the question on New Years Eve (our 2 year anniversary) We're getting married in August next to a pond near my home town. The ring is kinda like this one but it doesn't have the little diamonds on the side.

Wedding Planning
Well we are for sure going to go through with the destination thing. His mom is too but I don't care anymore. Mine will be better. haha jk. I am really really happy with this destination plan. I can't believe I'm going to get the chance to marry my best friend on the beach on a beautiful island. With so little that I'm going to have to actually plan, I'm not going to be doing any serious planning until after we get engaged. He doesn't have the ring yet but he said he's seen it and knows what it looks like. Haha. I'm hoping that it'll just be a big surprise. I don't want to when he's doing it at all. But I hope it's soon. Haha. :)

Ask a Question
How would you feel?
Okay so it's been a long time since I've written anything in here. But I have a very sad story to tell you. Me and my FH had been kind of discussing it and we decided that we didn't want to have a wedding at either of our home towns. ( partly because we couldn't decide which home town to do it in since they're two states away). So came the plan that we were going to invite only grandparents, parents, siblings, and very very close friends to come to Hawaii with us and watch us get married. We looked at the numbers and decided it would be cheaper or the same price as a regular wedding because we don't want to do anything fancy. Anyway, I hadn't really told a lot of people about this idea but it was definitely the plan. He told his mother about it about a month or two ago. She called him two days ago to tell him that she and her fiance, Randy, were flying to Oahu in a month to get married on the beach just the two of them.
She totally stole my wedding! I could tell that Eric was upset about it too but he would never say anything to her about this. I am so heartbroken though. Half the reason we were going to get married in Hawaii was so that we could be different than everyone else. Now she's going to use our idea before we can. What would you guys do? How would you feel? |

Wedding Day Thoughts
Bouncing ideas....
I was reading a post about whether or not you should let the groom see you before you walk down the aisle and it kinda got me thinking. It is such a pain to try and hurry and get all of your bridal pictures done right after the ceremony. It would be so much easier to do them before the ceremony, so that after you're married, you can actually enjoy your day. I'm sure there would be some pictures taken afterwards but not nearly as many.
But I also think that its very important that it should be a surprise when your groom sees you. So, I was thinking that a really good idea might be to set it up so that sometime in the morning, before all of the chaos begins, you could have him wait somewhere (like in a room by himself) and you could meet him in there. The way i see it is that he'll be in a room waiting, I'll crack open the door and tell him to close his eyes and then I'll come in and show him the dress. That way, I'll get to focus on his reaction and we can have that moment together. I read somewhere that brides and grooms who see each other BEFORE the ceremony tend to be less nervous during and after the ceremony. It makes total sense to me to do it that way. Plus it would be really nice to get the pictures done before so that you can enjoy cocktail hour with friends and family. |

Wedding Music And Songs
Some songs I've picked
I love music and I'm always on the lookout for new songs. But here's a list of the ones that I think I want:
First Dance: Heaven (sung by Jason Aldean) Daddy Daughter: Unforgettable - Nat King Cole Garter Toss: Cowboy Casanova - Carrie Underwood (beginning instrumental) Bouquet Toss: Findin' A Good Man - Danielle Peck Some other songs I want to play around with are: From this Moment (Shania w/ Bryan White) Can't Help Falling in Love, I Cross my Heart (George Strait) Smile (Uncle Kracker) Only You Can Love Me this Way (Keith Urban) Like I said, I'm always on the lookout. But those are a few that I've found that I like. |

Newbie Bride.
So, the man of my dreams and I met 8 and a half months ago. We went through a traumatic experience together and we were inseperably after that. He has met my family and he loves them and they love him. But his parents live 2 states away in Northern Idaho and Washington, and I have yet to meet any of them. He picked up 3 years ago and moved away from everyone he knew to get away from his ex-girlfriend and to get out of debt. He moved to St. George and found a job at Home Depot. Fast Forward 2 years, I was 2 years out of high school, decided to move 3 hours away from home to sunny St. George, found a job at the same Home Depot and it was all down-hill from there.
Since his family lives so far away, I have yet to meet them. (yikes when I finally do!) But we're planning on taking a trip in August to go up there and he wants to introduce me to everyone and he wants to show me where he grew up. I'm 99.99999 percent sure that he's the one. And he tells me all the time that he doesn't ever want to be with someone else. But I told him that if we were going to have an honest relationship and not rush into something before we should, I wanted to do everything the right way. So, he is not going to propose to me until after I meet his family. We did just recently move in together with the total support of my family. I couldn't love them more. I admit, things have moved faster than i would have ever expected, but... when you know, you know. Plans for the wedding: He wants to get married in June and I am dying to have my wedding in my parents back yard. My parents split a country-sized block with my grandparents. And my parents' back yard is just huge grass field with poppy-trees and a gorgeous back deck. And just in case the weather decides not to cooperate, there is a large shed next to my parents house that we could move inside to. Because our families live in different areas, we want to have our wedding in my hometown, followed by an open house in Washington. Plus we might have some small get-together in St. George because we have a lot of friends here also that we would like to celebrate with. Who knows? Maybe Home Depot will let us have it there! Haha. I'm still wrestling with colors. But everything seems to go back to purple. So for now, that's what i will have it listed as. I love love LOVE the idea of plum and Damask. But i also saw another bride on here that is using purple and a light blue/turquoise and i loved that idea also. I don't know. I change my mind everyday. And I know i have lots of time. But I guess that's all for now. Thank you for this website and giving me something to do all the time! |
