Marilyns vintage hankie invitations
we've been so busy I didnt get a chance to post the final wedding invite..
we did go with the hankies and we were happy with the outcome we have gotten so many comments from friends and family how unique and beautiful they were. they were so time consuming almost to the point of tears with the first couple but once we got the flow going we were able to knock them out. Again, my camera battery bit the dust so picks are from my BB which is why they are so fuzzy |

calling all brooch bouquet inspired brides!
how to make your own brooch bouquet
Lots of you have asked in previous posts and I am sorry this took so long but I hope this can help all of you who are determined to get a brooch bouquet without the $300 price tag!
It is pretty easy and I took a picture of each step... It is time consuming but the end product will be well worth it. here is a list of your supplies 1. brooches, old earings, necklace pieces ect 2. pipe cleaners 3. flower wire 4. flower tape 5. brooch backs 5. glue gun and a BUNCH of glue sticks ok so step one... if you are not using a piece that already has a back you will want to hot glue one of the brooch backs to the back of whatever you are using. ![]() ![]() ![]() be sure to hot glue the clasp shut you dont want it flapping open on your big day! next you will take a pipe cleaner and bend it in half ![]() next push the looped end through the clasp ![]() next you will push the ends through the loop and pull as tight as you can... I found it best to brace the brooch back by holding it down and wiggle the pipe cleaner as tight as you can ![]() next you will take one of the floral wires and bend it the same way you did the pipe cleaner ![]() next you want to slide the floral wire around your pipe cleaner and twist it tight and then push the wire straight ![]() next you will need to wrap the pipe cleaner around the floral wire ![]() next you will wrap the floral tape over the pipe cleaner... the pipe cleaner helps make the stem more sturdy but its important to wrap in the floral tape so you dont have any fuzzies when you put it all together! ![]() This is what it should look like when your done ![]() Once you get enough... I plan to use around 75 pieces you can piece them together for your bouquet. I have been placing mine in a glass vase to allow me to move them around for a pleasing aesthetic. Im not done yet but here is mine grouped together. ![]() hope this helps happy DIYing : ) |

Ask a Question
Are you worried about emptying your bridesmaids pockets?
I am thinking about all of the cost associated with my bridesmaids and while I would like to cover all of their costs its is not at all realistic for my FH and I to do so.
I am already leaning towards a dress that runs about $165. Now the dress is a twist dress so the alterations would be like none but it is still pricier than a David's Bridal pick. The theres hair and makeup... I would love to have someone there to do everyones hair and makeup but our budget grows by the minute and I dont want it to get out of hand and those items are NOT cheap. What are you paying for and is it wrong to not pay for anything? My MOH and one of my bridesmaid said they have no problem paying for their dress hair and makeup ect. But I also have my teenage cousin in my bridal party and certainly her financial means are different then that or my friends.... She does babysit for my son so I guess I hire her on and keep her paycheck flowing LOL!!! I plan to purchase jewelry for their bridesmaid gifts.... but idk |
