Black bridesmaid dresses?

My wedding planner recommended black dresses to match the other colors within the wedding. The black and white linens and the fuschia of the invites and flowers but black seems like such a safe color. I love black, it's probably the one predominent color in my wardrobe but I also love the bright jewel colors of the flowers and want to have a bit more fun with the dresses. I think the combo is great but need to think about it a little more.

I thought about black dresses but I really don't like the idea of black dresses and the guys suits being black. It all blends in too much for me.

My girls' dresses will be black also. At first, I wanted them to wear either hot pink or aqua dresses, but after we picked out the bouquets, there was so much pink that I felt like black dresses would look best. They will be wearing pink heels and jewelry and I am happy with how it will look. Maybe if you accent the dresses with a sash or something it would make you feel better about them being black? I don't know! Just trying to help:)

My girls are wearing floor length black dresses as well, you can see it on my blog. I feel like it's classic and timeless.  My colors are Black, Ivory and Crimson.  You can always add a colored sash or shoes...

we're doing black bridesmaid dresses for a couple reasons.
1. the girls will actually be able to wear them again (other weddings, new years eve, christmas parties, etc)
2. black is flattering on EVERYONE
3. it's such a classic colour that when we look back on our pictures in 20 years we won't have that "what were we thinking?" moment
4. you don't have to worry about matching a specific shade of colour to go with your decor. black is black.

you could always add pops of colour with their bouquet, shoes, accessories, etc...

I am doing black dresses for my bridesmaids as well....if you think it is to much black than add fuschia sashes, bouquet, jewelry, hair pieces, or shoes.

great ideas on the accent colors with the dresses such as the shoes and arrings and necklaces.  The more I do think about it black may make the most sense!

We are having black bridesmaid dresses, but I had them get a fuchsia sash to wear around their waists to add that splash of color.  It looks really nice.  I know, some people are like ew, black dresses??  Its all good -- very classy in my opinion!! :)

my bm dresses are black & i was planning on green spidermum bouquets for them - they really pop against the dress! my colors are white & black with apple green as an accent & i figured black is flattering on all body types! but you need to pic what you're comfortable with & what you envision on your big day!
