Save the Dates - timeline

I just had a question for you girls: How early should I send my Save-the-Dates and my invitations?

I am trying to keep in mind that I have a significant amount of people that are coming from out of town and that my wedding is in the summer (July) when most people probably take their vacations.

Any suggestions?

On a side note:
For my save the dates, the envelopes are 5" square and my printer doesn't print envelopes that small so I think I am just going to use mailing labels instead of printing the addresses right on the envelope. I really don't think people will think twice since they are probably just going to throw the envelope away anyway. Maybe I'll add a decorative stamp or something... what do you think?

We sent ours out about 9 months before the wedding. Thats kind of the point of an STD, to let people know as early as possible when the wedding will be! The invitation will remind them later!

I am sending mine's out Friday. That will be 9 months before our wedding. You would typically send them out 6-9 months before your wedding. I would send them out as early as possible with some blocked hotel room choices for those that need to save to come to your wedding especially if they are coming out of town sweetie!

Yes, save the dates should be sent out as soon as you can get them out.  As for the invitations, 2 months is when you send those out.  (I should know...I'm late sending mine!)

My wedding is in May and I'm sending them out the first week of the New Year.
