Ask a Question
What are your ushers wearing?
We are having four ushers in our wedding. Two of them are boys from our youth group at church who can't afford to rent tuxedos and their parents won't help them out, but they are very close to FH. We don't really have money in our budget to rent tuxedos for them, although I am going to try and scrape together some extra money. While I would love for them to be in tuxedos, I think we need to try and come up with different option, just in case. Maybe they could wear black slacks, white dress shirts and black ties with a vest? Is it possible to rent just vests? What are your ushers wearing?

Favor Boxes
More DIY
Or rather, FH's aunts and grandfather are making them! His aunt made really cute boxes a couple of years ago for Christmas and she offered to make smaller versions of them for our favor boxes. They look like the boxes in the pictures. They are so cute! Now I just have to decide what colors I want to do. I want to incorporate a little more of the green accents into the reception and I thought this might be a good way to do it. I thought to do some black boxes with pink ribbon, some black with green ribbon, pink boxes with black ribbon, and I'd like to find some cute patterned ribbon too. I like the little favor "cake" they have in the picture.
I'm not sure what we'll put in the boxes yet....The special colored and personalized M&M's are too expensive and I don't like Jordan Almonds or mints. I was thinking that we could put miniatures of FH's favorite candy (reeces PB cups) and my favorite candy (Lindt truffles) in the boxes and make a cute sign for the table that says something like, "Thank you for sharing our special day with us! Please enjoy our favorite sweet treats." I'd like to put a tag or sticker on the box saying "Love is Sweet." What do you think? Any comments or suggestions? |

NWR...Allergies!
Late last week, I thought I was getting a cold. However, as I sat sniffling in bed this morning watching the news, I learned that allergies are getting an early start this year. Here in Kansas City, they found tree pollen showing up in February! The pollen specialist on the news blamed the mild winter we had, as well as global warming. Now, pollen counts are sky high for early March. I need to start taking some allergy medicine, or I might not make it through May...

Ask a Question
Are you doing a dollar dance?
There has been a dollar dance at every wedding reception I've ever been to. My fiancee really wants to have one and I have always planned on doing one. But on many wedding boards, I've noticed that many people think it's tacky and rude to ask guests, who have already brought a gift, for more money. When I went to weddings that have dollar dances, I never felt like it was rude of the couple. You don't have to dance with the bride or groom and if you do, it only requires ONE dollar.
What is your opinion on the dollar dance? Are you having one? |

Ask a Question
What are you doing to DIY for your wedding?
We are planning on DIYing the following:
Invitations Programs Veil Feather/Flower Fascinator for reception Ring Bearer pillow Flower Girl basket Flower Girl hair combs Bridemaids Gift bags/totes Garter We may not end up doing all of it. When it comes down to it, I may say, "No way, I'm not going to stress over it, I'm just going to buy it!" I want to at least check all of the projects out, see what they'll cost, see if I have the time and the skill to do them. Do any of you have any good DIY sites, books, or other resources you just love? I really liked the DIY Bride website and book. |

We found our DJ!
I started looking at DJ's about 2 months ago and I wanted to find someone trustworthy and that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. I was talikg to my MOH about it and she suggested our friend Andrew. He's DJ'd lots of party's (including a couple that I've been to) and a couple of weddings.
I totally spaced! Why didn't I think of that? So I called him and asked him about it and he was all for it. He's got a ton of music, the equipment he needs, and I completely trust him. He's fun and outgoing...we hit the jackpot here. The best part is, he's costing us next to nothing. We'll give him some money even if he says he doesn't want any. One more thing checked off of my list! |

Wedding Hair Style
Pretty hairstyles that I can't decide between
So I've been looking at hairstyles recently and it's pretty amazing how much my taste has changed over the last few years. I used to want the tight riglets all piled up on top of my head. Now, that's just not me.
Now I love the low, loose updos and even the pretty curls and waves in hair that's left down. I want to show off the pretty sweetheart neckline on my dress and maybe wear some pretty earrings. I think the updo would be best for that. I love the clip on the low side pony tail. I think it would really compliment a bracelet like the ones I posted about below. Any suggestions or comments? |

Ask a Question
Does anyone know where I can find cheap versions of bracelets like this that still look pretty?
I think I am going to forgo a necklace altogether and just wear a hollywood glam bracelet. I want to wear a big bangle/cuff like these pictures on my wedding day, but I don't want to pay the huge price tag on the either (like I could if I wanted to, lol). Does anyone know of any good websites where I can find similar styles that are decent quality (but not real of course) for cheap?

Invitations
I ordered 2 different samples from cardsandpockets.com today. I ordered the perfetto in onyx and fushia (both metalllic) and I also ordered a panel invitation kit in black tie and watermelon. I wanted to see how the metallic would look vs. smooth. I think we'll check around and see what it will cost to create them on our own vs. how much it will cost at cardandpockets.
If you made your invitations yourself, where did you get your cardstock? Where did you get it cut? I love the flourish design on the perfetto example. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can find something similar? |
