Wedding Dress
1st Fitting today ...
Today I had my first fitting for my wedding dress ... I really do not need much done except a bustle to tie up my small train for the reception and I also needed her to work on covering up my bustier which was showing at the top of my dress.
I go for my 2nd fitting 2 weeks today ... she's also going to steam my dress and veil. I can't believe that our wedding is in 37 days ... where does the time go? |

Tuxedo's
Fiance and I picked out the tuxes at Tip Top Tailor today!
Bri and I picked out the tuxes for the guys to wear.
Brian will be wearing a Ralph Lauren - 2 button jacket tux with ivory vest and an ivory tie with circles. The guys will be wearing the same tux but black vests and dark chocolate brown tie with circles. And we're in debate regarding the dad's attire ... at first we were considering the praline circle tie which is in between the ivory and the chocolate brown but now we're considering using the turquoise for our dad's and black on black for our step-dads. Oh yes and our ring bearer is going to match Brian! We also got our application for our marriage certificate ... which we have to make an appointment next week with the town hall ... and then we can meet with our minister regarding the ceremony! |

Wedding favours!
Started decorating my Jam Jars ...
I decided last year that I wanted to give out personal favors for the wedding and something homemade.
In the winter my mom and I purchased all 130 of the mini mason jars and for the last couple of weeks my mom has been "jammin" ... dozens of batches of homemade jam!!! Anyways I was having a really hard time decorating the jars because they are glass with a pattern and the labels I had originally made did not stick. I also didn't want the gold lid with writing to show on the top ... so I brainstormed and came up with this (see pics) I used our monogram and pearl to cover the top of the lid of the jar (this matches the front of our invitations) and then used cream tulle and chocolate brown ribbon to tie on my labels which sorry for the fuzzy picture say ... Love is Sweet Thank you for celebrating this special day with us Megan & Brian September 19th, 2009 So far I've completed a dozen ... better get going :) There are also some pics of my wedding invite assemby and mailing label prep ... (ladies if you haven't done so already make sure to give yourself plenty of time when doing DIY invites! - these took way longer than orginally anticipated) 58 more days to go!! |

Shower Pics ...
June 13th, 2009 - Backyard Bridal Shower!
I had an awesome shower a few weeks ago!
The weather started out a little gray and cloudy but as soon as the guests arrived the sun came out and we all got to enjoy some fun in the sun of my mom's backyard! The lantern favours were a hit and my mom, aunt and grandma put together a wonderful lunch. My bridal party did all of the games which included bridal bingo, how well do you know the bride and a few others. Quite a few items were purchased off of our registry ... my favourite though were sheets that actually fit our king size bed ... 800 thread count .. mmmm! We also received a lot of gift cards and cash which we are using some towards our honeymoon in Aruba! After the shower we had a small dinner with the bridal party and my fiance came and surprised me with flowers - orchids, hydrangeas and kermit poms very similar to my wedding day bouquet! The next day my sister in law to be/bridesmaid helped me with all the Thank you cards which I mailed out the day after the shower! Whoo hoo! After about the 20th card I was ready to quit but Amanda didn't let me and I'm glad that I got them all out ... Next on the Agenda ... start to pick our wedding music and the wedding invites are going out in the mail tomorrow morning! I'm a little ticked at the $1.18 per invite postage but oh well! |

Honeymoon
Only one ocean view suite left and it's ours!!!! Aruba here we come :)
So my finace and I have been debating between Barbados and Aruba for the past year ... finally we decided on Aruba and so a few weeks ago I narrowed down 2 resorts that we liked in Aruba and when we had our neighbours over for dinner we started talking about the wedding.
They got married last year and although I knew they went to Aruba I didn't know which resort they stayed in. So we mentioned that we were looking into the RIU Palace and they were so excited because that is where they went ... So now that we had the inside scoop of the resort and the confidence that it would be an amazing place to stay I started doing some more on-line research. When my fiance came back from doing a side-job this afternoon I said I found the RIU Palace for just under $4000 ... but I didn't want to book on-line because I'm a freak about ordering things on-line ... so we went to the local travel agency and talked with a rep who had been at this very same resort the year before! She was really amazing and so we decided to book plus it ended up costing approximately $200 less than on-line ... while she was in the process of booking her system told her that there was something wrong and she needed to call in the booking ... so there we sat on edge!!! It ended up that we were booking the last Ocean view Suite and they just wanted to confirm the booking before someone else on-line took it :) Whew!!! Brian looked over at me and said ... guess it was meant to be because a similar situation happened when we purchased our home ... it too was the last one left! So we leave on the Monday after our wedding and have one week in paradise!!! |

My shower is on the weekend!!! Hurray!
My bridal shower ... followed by a dinner for the bridal party!
I'm so excited ... last week we met with our DJ to go over a few things and we're really happy about who we chose. It ended up costing us a few hundred dollars more than what we originally planned on spending but he's incorporating a lot for the money.
This weekend coming up is my bridal shower ... I have approximately 30 confirmed guests coming. My mom and aunt are hosting the party in my mom's backyard! So far one of my BM has sent me a quiz about me for one of the games and my mom has been talking about some ribbon game ... not too sure exactly what they've planned. All of my lanterns are now done and I've been slowly bringing them over to my mom's house each day. And some items have also been purchased from my registry ... I am just praying that it's nice weather so we can be outside since my mom's house is very small :) Now i'm just debating on which dress I should wear to the shower. I originally purchased a strapless, tea length black and white dress but last week I found a really cute white v-neck sun silk dress with a purple sash and floral print. The shoes that I purchased will go with either dress ... so I will hopefully make up my mind soon :) I guess I could always wear one to the afternoon shower and then change for the bridal party dinner that my mom is hosting after the guests leave from the shower. This will be for all the bridal party and their spouses, dates! A chance to finally hang out and enjoy before the chaos begins! And I just looked and noticed on 102 days until the wedding! |

Shower invites completed, mailed and received ... now working on wedding invites ... 20 down 50 more to go!
So last weekend my Aunt and I completed all of the Bridal Shower invites ... they have all be mailed and received!
Next project is my DIY wedding invitations ... are they ever time consuming but will look great when they're all done. - Still have to complete table numbers, menus and favor tags. Today I will work on the bridal shower favour tags for the lanterns. Still wondering if I should make a cardbox for the bridal shower as well - I know not everyone will purchase off of my registry's??? Anyways I will post pics of all 50 lanterns when they're completed. **UPDATE - STILL WORKING ON LANTERNS ONLY 14 MORE TO GO!!!** |

Engagement Shots have arrived!!!
On Sunday Bri and I did our engagement shots in the beaches!
They turned out pretty well ... the weather held up (meaning it didn't rain) but the windstorm was awful. So much for my hair looking good - I should have just left it curly and pinned back my bangs, but no going back now :( Other than that the shoot was awesome. I am so happy with our photographer. He had a very casual, relaxed feel to his shoots and made us feel very comfortable. Johnny (our photographer) even took a great shot of me and my aunt when we got back for doing our shots. Plus our girls (Weeble and Hailey) got to join in the too! They did a good job and made their mom and dad proud! Here are a few of my favourite shots! Enjoy :) |

Wedding Invitation
Cardstock arrived and 1st Invite completed ...
What do you think?
Don't mind the not so straight edges ... I was too excited to find my scrapbook paper cutter and used scissors :) The hardest part was the wording on the invite ... because my fiance and I are paying for the wedding ourselves so we didn't include the parent's names and I couldn't find a lot of examples of wording used for the couple hosting. Anyways I was really excited to come home on Monday aftework and see a gigantic box on my doorstep filled with my cardstock. First I took inventory ... I ended up receiving a zillion menus when all I ordered was 10 but oh well I can use them for other things in the wedding. Then when I went to print I forgot that my dog ate my printer cable a few months ago so I went out to get a new one and guess what ... they don't make my printer anymore! So $300 later I walked out with a new printer, ink etc for my DIY invites! But I think it was worth every penny because I am so happy with the end result! |
