Night Before the Wedding
Night Before the Wedding

Ask a Question
Night Before the Wedding?

My fiance and I were just talking about this tonight. I always thought that traditionally the husband and wife do not stay together the night before the wedding. Is that true? I like the idea...

Well where we are having our wedding we (all guests) have to stay 2 nights, so our guests staying there will arrive on the Friday sometime. There are only 15 rooms, so guests who can't stay there are going to stay at a hotel about a half hour away. (The wedding night we are renting a bus so that they can drink and get back to their hotels safely). The rooms are all set aside for any guests who choose to stay where we will be staying.. but that is a different question I may post about later :)

Anyway, we're probably having our rehearsal dinner there the night before the wedding, where of course I'll be seeing David. After wards I'm going to stay in my suite with hopefully most of my bridesmaids and MOH (there is a second room) so we'll all be together to have fun and all be ready the next morning. Some may not stay with me because they live close enough to drive back home after the rehearsal dinner. My fiance will probably stay at his parents place (only 20 minutes away) and then I won't see him till the Ceremony the next day.

Isn't this tradition to not stay together the night before? I thought so, my fiance didn't know, lol. Will you brides be with your grooms the night before the wedding? Or separate? I like the idea of being separate just because it will amp up the excitement of seeing him for the first time on our wedding day as I walk down the aisle. :) What are you all doing?

That is the tradition.  I am definitely following it - in fact I added in that me and FH are not to speak to each other until the ceremony.  I know how I get when I'm stressed and I don't want me to be walking down the aisle angry at him or him angry at me!

Well in some "traditions", the bride and groom do not spend any nights together before they are married, either, so the whole issue of whether to spend the night before together or apart is irrelevant.

We're not following tradition on this one, we're both staying at our place the night before, then going our separate ways in the morning. But we're not following a lot of traditions, so it's not really a big deal to us.

We have to set up our reception site at 10pm the night before the wedding, so my FI and I will see each other then until about 12am, and then he is staying with his groomsman at one of their house's, and my BM's and I are staying at my parents. I will be speaking to him before the ceremony, but he will not see me until I enter the church.

Well it is not an "issue" or a big deal or anything, I just liked the idea. We live together now. Obviously some people don't live together before the wedding, but that's they're beliefs :) We might talk before the wedding I'm sure, but I just liked the idea of it, in my opinion. I was just wondering what everyone else was doing. I think we can decorate any time the day before too :)

Yes, this is the tradition not to see each other.  However I am not following it this time.  With of our wedding in Charleston, traveling etc.  We will be together all day and night before our wedding.

Since we are staying at a hotel the week before the wedding, we have decided not to stay together the night before. This gives me time to hang out with the girls and my family some before the big day. We are having no contact whatsoever until the ceremony. He is even set against doing a first sight to get photos out of the way early. So we are going to do each of us separately with the wedding party and family before the ceremony and then the photos with everyone after the ceremony has concluded.

we'll be seeing each all day until I get ready for the ceremony.  Our venue is 4 hrs away from home and our guests will not be arriving until the day of the wedding.  FH and I will be staying the night before so we can set up for everything the next day.

I had a beautiful suite the night before the wedding.  I spent time in a bubble bath and sipping glass of wine. Watch some TV and then slipped off to sleep.

The suite was our honeymoon suite then for the day of our wedding.  Was perfect.

It is tradition, with our destinaton wedding part of our wedding package is a room for the groom the night before provding there is one available, we will know when we get there! I dont want to see him at all after 12 midnight! I think I could be even a little superstitious about this!

I'll be like you scheri :) the room I'll be staying in the night before is the same room we will be having on the wedding night. Of course it'll be cleaned and tidied after my bridesmaids and I are all done getting ready in there. I can't stand a messy room! ahaha

After that I'm not sure if we'll head for our honeymoon or not.. haven't planned that yet :)
