Wedding Reception
Who should I dance with for my parent dance???

So here's the story...
I grew up in basically a single-parent home all my life. Like I said in a previous post my mom will be walking me down the aisle so now I need to decide who I should do my parent dance with. My Uncle has been my male role model since I was born, he fell of his rocker the past few years (his 7mo pregnant fiancee died, lost his job, drinking) but he's working on it, I have my younger brother who is going to be 17 (he's 6'4!), or my MIA biological father who I met a couple years ago for the first time! IDK who I should dance with, I'm leaning more towards my uncle because my brother might be embarrassed! lol! What do you ladies think???

who would make you happiest to dance with? sounds like your uncle and i'm sure he would be honoured to be asked.

heck dance with your mom if you want.  I went to a wedding and the brides parents had past and her daughter was an adult, so that is who she danced with.

Now for me, my mother is walking me down the aisle alone.  My father passed away a few years back.  So for my father daughter dance I am going to do a slide show tribute.  This is YOUR wedding, whatever will make you happy do it!  Be it your brother, your uncle, your mother who ever.  If your mother raised you and she is giving you away, then maybe you should dance with her, but if that is too awkward for you I agree with sarahdarling go with your uncle.

I agree.  I think your uncle would be very honored to be chosen! The close runner up for me would be my mother, but if you don't feel that connection with your bio dad, then your uncle would be a perfect choice!

My sister n law's dad is deceased and at her wedding she danced with her mom and 3 aunts to "You are the sunshine of my life" (I think it's Stevie Wonder).

My parents are deceased, so I am dancing with all my brothers and sons  to I Loved Her First-Heartland

I'm in somewhat of the same boat. My mom pretty much raised all 4 of us on her own since I was 7. I don't even think I'm inviting my dad to my wedding and he definitely won't be walking me down the aisle. I feel that would be disrespectful to my mother. I'm having my twin brother walk me down the aisle, but I haven't decided who I'm going to dance with. My twin will not want to do that at all.

I don't see a problem with you dancing with your mom, uncle or brother. I say who ever you would want to dance with. It will be perfect either way.
