GROOMSMEN: Gray Suits vs Black Tuxes

Okay, so I have quite the dilemma.
My wedding colors are:
White, Silver, black and purple
The reception will be alot of white flowers and purple flowers, purple tablecloths
There really won't be alot of black, so I'm thinking of taking the whole "traditional black tux" and scrapping it.
Also, I'm definitely not the traditional bride, by any means.

My fiance' is on the fence, so we need your help!!

We've been bantering about this topic too. I think Black tuxs are pretty classic, and grey suits are a modern trend for groomsmen and ultimately both look great. Either color sounds like it would look great with your wedding. . Black suits are also a nice choice, kind of a compromise!

We're going with grey tuxes. Our colours are midnight blue and grey with hints of colour (in the florals, my girls' shoes, etc.).. my FI is the one who decided on the grey. It's a bit different than what we've seen, and I think he likes that. :P

We also chose grey tuxes. My FH saw them and really likes how it looks. Our colors are also purple! It think it will look so nice w/ the gray tux. I'm just thinking about the shoes for them. Black just seems out of place w/ the grey tuxes, but my FH didn't like the gray shoes that came w/ tux rental. So that's just one more thing we have to look for! We aren't too traditional either, so if you don't like the black tux, ditch it!

For our wedding my husband bought a black suit from a more specialized store and scrapped the rented tux.  After seeing how much a rental was going to cost, we decided to buy so he could reuse to other formal events.  We both loved it...the fit was amazing, and you could definitely see a difference in quality.  Our groomsmen just wore their own black suit pants and matching white shirts and green ties.  We wanted him to stand out and keep costs lower for the groomsmen.  So I love the idea of a groom wearing a black suit with groomsmen wearing gray or visa versa. I think both would look great.....but I definitely have a thing for black suits, so my vote is for black suit with gray groomsmen.
