So my dress saga begins with me going to 4 different places.
The first place, was a bust. Not only because I couldn't really find anything I liked, but because the ladies there looked like they were clueless. I asked them what material something was, and they were like uuuhh and had to look it up!! How can you work in a Bridal shop and not know what organza is?!
The second and third place, the people got worse and worse.
One was in Branford, CT (won't name it) and the consultant snickered at me and made a comment that I "Couldnt afford" the dress I wanted to try on. So my BESTIE TARRAH and I got dressed and walked out. (If i was trashy I would've flipped her off, but that wouldn't have solved anything)
The third, had nothing but Impressions Bridal, and other pretty generic brand dresses. I'm not snotty, its not like I need a designer dress, Its just that I've looked through countless Impressions magazines and their dresses are boring, and cheap looking.
I tried some on anyway.
Hated every one. The fit was wrong, the bodice was very wrong. I looked like a cupcake in every ballgown, and a popsicle in every mermaid. NEXT!
I went to ANOTHER dress shop in Farmington (a richy little town) hoping something a little more high end would be there, and there was. I loved the top of a dress, but wanted a completely different bottom, and she wouldn't accommodate it.
So that gave me an idea. Get my dress custom made.
So I went online and looked up places that custom make dresses, and I found a little hole-in-the-wall place in Norwalk, CT. I went in, the woman is a total doll. I brought pictures and explained in detail exactly what I wanted. She had me try on similar dresses to get the feel, and see what i like.
I don't have too many pictures, but I posted a couple dresses that look kind of similar.
The first 3 are SaBelle by maggie sottero. the fit and details are very similar to my dress, but mine is tulle and flowy. the last picture is how the skirt will look!! Can't wait to show you after my fitting!!
Its a fit and flare, its fitted to my hips, and then is huge and full. its all tulle on the bottom, with tulle and satin rosettes, and underneath is a layer of lace.
The top is sweetheart, and beaded, satin under tulle. the back is lace up with more beading, and a long train. Gorgeous. Altogether it'll come to a little over 4,000, which is a thousand under my budget for a dress!!!
That means MORE ACCESSORIESS!!!! :D
Thanks again for all the comments hunnies!
