Thats the same thing I was thinking.. My budget was $7,000....maybe $8,000 tops. But after a run down of what I want an need I think I need to up mine. I guess it just depends on where you live. I am sure I am getting a better deal than people that live in the big cities.

I think it depends on what you want and how much you are willing to spend on things. If you want real flowers, moderate reception venue, entertainment, wedding cars etc then maybe not. However if you are happy to spend money on the things that are really important but exclude other things then maybe. Either way you will have a beautiful wedding.

I have about 65 guests and had a budget of about 10000 but its now looking like its going to cost 15000. We decided to pay for bridal party accommodation and outfits which put it up a bit. But orginally I wasnt going to have real flowers or theming so I think it just depends on what you want. Also if your creative and have the time it could save you a lot of money, where im not.

Also from speaking with other Brides things seem to cost more in Australia.

I just posted this on another brides wall, as it was somewhat similar of a question.. you will probably get a lot of repeat information, but here it goes.
My canadian budget is $10,000. and we are pretty much on budget.. I think whats really important is to know that you can still have a beautiful, magical wedding without having top of the line, cream of the crop everything... Find one thing ( possibly 2 ) that means the most to you, and if you HAVE to, splurge on that one or two things.

As someone mentioned, Michaels frequently has coupons for 40-50% off , anything that can be done DIY i would deffinetly suggest doing as it will also save you a lot of money. Sure it may take more time, and you might want to pull your hair out at 2am because somethings not going perfect for you, but itll save $$!!

Now obviously you probably want things like your caterer, photography, dj, etc etc to be " professional" I would suggest trying to find a company that has a inclusive package, if you  have to look through the phone book and call every party/event place in your city, then do it. it will be worth it..... As well, you may want to talk to your local university if you have one...They may have an exceptional student in their photography/event coordinating/etc class that they could possibly get you in contact with .. not technically professional, but  I imagine if someone is in their like 3rd or 4th year of a program and is getting awesome grades, i am sure they would know what they are doing and would probably do your wedding for next to nothing for the experience/portfolio

hmm what else... dont buy the first thing you see and fall in love with.. 9/10 times you will find something that you love even more ( and may even be cheaper )

Look on your local ad list. For example, we have craigslist and kijiji. People place posts on their all the time for wedding dresses... I deffinetly understand why you may want something of your own, thats never been worn, but you can find dresses on their that are amazing and alot less expensive for what you would pay in the store..

Hope this helps some.

Its deffinitly possible providing that you stay on budget and dont have any unnecessary purchases / splurges.

What kind of wedding are you looking to have?? When I first thought about my wedding budget I thought to myself " I would be happy with plugging in my ipod ( rather than spending 600+ on a dj), and eating hamburgers and hot dogs, salads, pretty much a big family bbq (rather than spending $3000 + on a caterer) " .... that vision was squashed and I did decide to go with a caterer... My meals are 76$ and that is very cheap for my area... Around here, everywhere is about $100 or more per person.  My $76 includes meat of my choice, side of my choice, salad of my choice, a full antipasto bar, OPEN bar for 5 hours, unlimited red and white wine all night, a dessert buffet with coffee, tea, etc and a pizza buffet later on in the night. I thought this was amazing, and I couldnt pass it up.

But, if food is not really a huge importance for you, perhaps you could do something that is a bit more low budget that will still be just as good.... For example, if you and your FH love pizza you could order a few party trays ( 24 slice ea ) and get them made in the shape of a heart to put a romantic touch to it... Or if you guys love bbq, im sure theres a friend or family member who could cook for yous...  OR, if you guys are a fan of subs, you could look into a sub shop in your area ( for example subway ) and get them to make huge subs that everyone can have a piece of.... ( this was done at my friends party, and it was a huge hit )

regardless of what you choose to do , i am sure you will have a gorgeous wedding.
