Green Uplighting

My fiance REALLY wants up lighting, but he wants green up lighting. Do you ladies like the look of this??

Honest opinions please!

I'm undecided lol. It could look nice depending on what else you're doing.. it is def a more masculine choice and I don't dislike it, just not sure if I love it. I'm off to visit your blog and see what else you're doing :)

So, from what I saw on the rest of your blog, I think this will work. You have alot of elegance with your linens and candelabras and that will really bring an elegant  feel to the room, and the green lighting could be a nice touch. I think it will work.

Thank you for the honest opinion, to be honest, I don't know if I love it.  I told him that if we did up lighting I would want to do white, and he said he wants a color....we will see if we even end up with any. haha!!

I see your side completely, it is hard to picture a room all in green.... But I think with the white and black it could look striking... I myself would prefer white, but I get the ambience he is trying to create too.. tough call! Good luck!

I checked out your blog to see what other elements you are incorporating and I thought I'd share a couple suggestions for you to consider.  By what you posted in your blog I'm getting the feeling that you don't LOVE the idea.  And I think if you completely washed the walls in green light your guests would either love it or wonder what you were thinking (if they don't love green) BUT i think that holds true for any color if the walls are completely washed in one color.

We are hiring a company to do our lighting and lighting is my one and only MUST HAVE, I love everything about the ambiance it brings.  I found a few pics you could consider.

One option would be to do a few green spots of light - head table, entry way etc...but not everywhere.  And then have white pin spotting on your centerpieces.

Another option could be goldish lighting and that would go good with green!

And another option could be to do the ceiling in green but that's it.  It would bring the focus in the room up though so if your venue doesn't have a pretty ceiling I'd skip this one!

lampebride:  Wow...thank you so much!!  how sweet are you to do all that :)  I honestly don't know what we are going to do, but I think that if we did go with some colored up lighting it would have to be placed very strategically.  Our room is also all windows except for one wall...and that makes me wonder if up lighting would even work in our space....oh the decisions....lol.

I say no green, in theatre it is the color that makes the actors on stage look sickly and unhealthy. You don't want everyone in pictures to have a sickly pallor

You know.. I'm torn b/c I was about to say yes yes yes I'm doing it.. but with all the not so postive feed back about it i'm scared.  I'm going to have to sit down with my lighting people and figure out what to do.  I WAS planning on green up lights with white pin spots.. 25 of them.. for centerpieces, cake, candy bar.. all that stuff.  I really don't want another random color, but I also don't want white... then it lightens the room which for me is a complete opposite effect and waste of 2000 bucks in lighting.  :(  I'm going to talk to them and see what they suggest.  I know if I did do the green.. I want a yellowy green not green green.. hmmm makes me think

Yea...I think that green is a tough color to make look right.  I think if it is done the right way it could look good, but I think that it would have to incorporate yellow, white and just a hint of green up lighting...if that makes sense.  I think the pic i posted looks the best out of the ones that I have seen, but even less green would look better I think.  It is not an easy color to be made appear elegant...oh green how you are a tough color!!
