Wedding Moon
I'm so lucky
After many weeks of changing wedding plans, searching for just the right place and some frustration, we've decided on a place. The original plan was to get married in ST. John USVI on the beach with only a few friends and famliy and have a reception back home. Then the other plans were to get married locally and have a nice reception, then it went to his mom's backyard, then to vegas, then to me saying eff it we'll do the justice of the peace. Most of these were turned down due to price or location (him saying no) and the final suggestion was turned down because somewhere along the way he realized that I really should have the wedding of my dreams. I think that he came to that realization because I said "Fine, plan your own damned wedding." out of frustration and then went on a wedding planning strike. Yes strike!
A few nights ago he was looking through a honeymoon magazine a friend of mine had given me and he said "What about this place?" It was a resort in Mexico. We jumped on the internet and checked it out and he was smitten. So we'll be getting hitched in mexico and at an earlier date. I'm estatic because I get to get married on the beach and spend the most fabulous 10 days and nights in a suite with our own private pool. Wooo-hooo! As of now we're telling family and friends just in case they'd like to come. |

Ask a Question
Does anyone else feel like someone else is rushing your wedding?
When my fiancé first proposed I thought he mean eventually. We were just cuddling and talking when he hugged me tight and said “marry me”. I didn’t think he meant in the near future because we hadn’t been together that long, for a few months, three to be exact. So I said sure, why not in that I’m not taking you serious tone, then he looked me in my eyes and asked if I would marry him and assured me that he was serious, again I said sure (but in a serious tone); but I still thought he meant eventually, like within five years. Then he asked “you’re going to marry me next year?” I responded ok but don’t you think that’s kind of fast? For the next 2 weeks he made sure to ask me at least 5 times a day. By the way, I had already said yes the first day he asked. Still thinking that a year was too soon I picked a date that was a year and 1 and a half months after he asked. Since then he’s told any and everybody who will listen. I told my mom and my friends (all of which responded with a “wow that’s fast”).
This morning his mother called and they were talking as I was getting ready for work. I just happened to overhear him ask his mother if he just heard her ask why we were waiting a year to get married. Shocked I looked over at him and said what. That’s right, she wants us to hurry up and get married, she said she didn’t see the point of waiting a whole year. Feeling awkward about it I hopped on the phone and she went on about how we should hurry and get married and just have a reception for family and friends. There was something about getting on with our lives and such in there too. I’m still puzzled. He’s puzzled because his mom really likes me (which is a first) and he wants to know why she’s so eager for him to get married to me (another first). *update* he and I have talked and thought that a year engagement is a good idea, its just our moms pushing for a sooner date. Anyone else feel kind of rushed by everyone else? |

Bridezillas
Some brides are downright intolerable
I was watching Bridezillas on WE and normally I tend to see brides throwing temper tantrums over silly things. I saw one bride who was the embodiment of all bad New Jersey clichés she threw the ring back in her fiancés face because as she put it “It looked like he got the ring out of a bubblegum machine”. Once I saw a Bride almost stab her fiancé in his forehead. (Yea that's right, his forehead). She would have been facing attempted murder charges had he not moved out of the way. I thought that would be the worst I'd see.
Or so I thought. Some of the brides are abusive. There was one Bride named Dawn (I forgot what her fiancé’s name was). Despite being fatter than her fiancé, she put him on a diet, "coached" him during his workouts (while eating a box of doughnuts). She told him he had to loose weight because she wanted her wedding pictures to look perfect. She put him in etiquette class (which I could probably understand if he were etiquette challenged). He tried to comfort her in her time of need when her mom went into the hospital the night before the wedding but she treated him like a dog, emasculated and degraded him in front of other people and accused him of hollering at her when it was her who hollered and cursed him out. The whole time I was expecting him to stand up for himself, he never did. She made it seem like she was too good for him and not only was he below her but he should feel damn lucky to get to marry “up” by marrying her. Then there’s Megan. She treated her fiancé like a child, flirted with his friend and insulted all of her bridesmaids. She told one of them that she was fat and called herself doing her BM a favor by buying her a bigger dress. I couldn’t believe how disrespectful she was to her family and friends. I’ll be watching Sunday to see if her BM’s pull out of the wedding. I wonder how these women feel when they watch their show. *Update* I did get to see Megan and her doomed fiance tie the knot and with an added bonus, my fiance watched it with me. He said it was one of the hardest shows to watch. lol. He was floored by how she treated Cory. |

Frustrated
I just want to scream
I am not having a good day today.
I woke up with a headache the size of 6 elephants. I think its because I've had a lot on my plate lately. School shopping for my kids, picking them up from grandma's place which is 4 hours away, my FH having a small crisis (my not being able to fix it fast), my best friend who's also my MOH telling me that there's a huge possiblility that she can't come to my wedding (I was fine with my family not being there but damn) and issues at work. Oh and to top it off my purse broke. Normally I'd go buy a pair of (or a few) shoes and feel better but I can't right now. |

Flowers
Bouquet
with such a dramatic dress, I don't want to have a red bouquet. I'm kind of leaning toward an all white one or maybe a white one with a subtle splash of color.

Invitation
Message in a bottle
I really couldn't decide on what type of invitation to send. A simple chic one or a va-va-voom patterned one. To my surprise I came accross these and well it kinda fits the wedding. This will be a DIY project. I'm not sure when I'll get started though. Should be simple, some small plastic bottles with corks, a few small sea shells and some parchment paper. I think I'll only have to do about 30, but Ill make 50 to be safe.

I love these styles
There's a huge chance that I would change the colors. Like the white to gold and the black to white, the grey possibly to red. Of course I would change the cake stand to gold.

Who doesn't love the beach
This is where we're getting hitched and having our honeymoon. I want a small wedding and a destination wedding is a pretty good way of slimming down the guest list.

Shoes!!!
I think I've found the perfect shoe
After scouring both my closet and the internet, I’ve found the perfect shoe (for now). Lol strangely after seeing them in gold I realized that I have a very similar pair (damn near identical) in my closet (gold colored). I’m pretty sure that by the time my dress arrives in either December or January that I’ll have proclaimed at least 10 shoes are the perfect shoe.

Wedding Dress
Down with white! Up with red!
I’ve decided to switch the color schemes for the bride and groom. He can wear the white and I’ll wear the red. Now I'm trying to find the perfect shoes for this dress and maybe a tiara.
