Wedding Dress
Help please!
So I officially chose my dress and I love it but I have some alterations to make.
First off, being larger busted we are going to make the dress a halter, so keep that in mind. The gold band on this dress is going to be a champagne color to go with my colors and also will be moved down slightly so it is under my chest. Here are my two paradoxes....paradoxi....I think I'm making up new words....lol... 1. I really want a lace up back, but also love the sash, I'm losing weight, about 10 lbs. in the last month so while the dress fits perfect now (I'm purchasing the floor model) so the girl I'm buying from recommended a lace up back. Has anyone seen anything that would make both work?? I love the thickness of the sash, and would love to keep that. SOOOOOOO....any ideas? 2. In the third picture, I think I'm counting correctly, I am wearing a hoop skirt, and since I'm getting married in July it makes there be some fabulous ventilation. In the last picture there is no hoop skirt, I feel like this is slightly more slimming but would love some second opinions. Thank you everyone!!! |

Wedding Dress
Picked One
So, I officially picked my dress. After giving in and going shopping here in town, I opted not to order online. Though it would have saved some dough, it only would have saved about 100 dollars. Therefore, knowing what my stress level is going to be like, I picked this Alfred Angelo Dress...my friend does alterations at the wedding shop I purchased from, so I'm getting the band in champagne and going to turn it into a halter with a lace up back. SOOOOO happy!!!
All in all after getting a discount, and some wonderful help from my bridesmaids to purchase as their wedding gift to me, it will cost me about 500 less than it would have if I had bought it normally. We looked at bridesmaid dresses today too, probably going to go with an Alfred Angelo as well...I feel so cliche, I've always been a "Maggie" bride. I think that the dress on the left is what we'll go with and we'll do it in black with champagne accents to match the ribbon on my dress. EEEEEEEKKKKKKKKK its actually happening!!!!! |

Wedding Dress

Ok, so I'm going trying on wedding dresses Saturday, and no matter what I end up with I'm going to need a rather large bustier, 38 DD...YIKES. Everywhere I look, they are pretty spendy I'd like to keep it under 45.00 but I could be dreaming.
Does anyone have any clue where to look?? Also, I've figured out centerpieces, I'll post pictures soon :) |

How long did you date before you got engaged?
15 months Did you get the ring you wanted? I was expecting to not really have an engagement ring so ANYTHING was a step up. What I ended up with suits me perfectly :) Was the proposal a complete surprise? I knew that we were getting married, but as for where and when he would propose, yes complete surprise...to me...the entire rest of the family knew though. Do you wish you had a bigger/smaller diamond? If so How big or small? Haha its perfect as is. Did you cry when he proposed? Yes, he asked if I liked the ring, and I had to tell him, "I don't know, I can't see it!" When do you want to go for your honeymoon? Anywhere, I'd be content to hole up in whatever apartment we end up in, even if its a box. Are you buying his wedding band for him? Yes. Have you gone over your original wedding budget? Our budget is pretty much zero, however, I haven't experienced anyone giving anything away, so yes we have gone over. What day of the year will your wedding be? Saturday, July 24th, 2010 What kind of weather? Considering its high desert it will probably be hot and dry during the day, and cold at night, who knows maybe we'll even get a thunderstorm. Outside or Inside? Inside. Church/justice of the peace/other? His dad will perform the ceremony How many people will be there? Well so far from my side and people in town were at 160, so assuming around 200 plus, but we're having a picnic for those who can't travel who live in his hometown. Time of day? 4pm How many bridesmaids? Who would they be? 3, one of my friends whose been around since I was nine, one that I rented from and I bonded with when I moved out on my own, and the other who I met when I moved to Bend in the first place. What kind of cake/what will it look like? We're going to have a small cake for us, immediate family, and the wedding party, then we're going to do homemade yellow and chocolate cupcakes. I'm attempting to weasel in some coconut somewhere. What kind of dress will you have/color/material? I haven't decided yet, I know the dress I want but am concerned it will be a little heavy for end of July. What kind of flowers in your bouquet? White roses. Kind of wedding bands? Something vintage-y looking, and he wants titanium or the like. How will you wear your hair? Depends on the dress I pick, but I like the look of having a big white flower in it. Who will be important to be there? Myself and Michael. Will the reception be big or small? Its seeming to be big. What will the groom wear? Black and white beyond that, no clue. How old will you and the groom be? I will be 23 and he will be 21, yeah that's right I'm a COUGAR!!! rawr.... How long will you be engaged before you get married? About 4 months Live together before or wait till married? Nope. Take a long time to plan the wedding or will it be simple? It will be budget friendly so likely simple, However, I cannot deny my glam side. Will you do it yourself or with family or hire someone to plan the wedding? I'm a DIY kinda girl Will you write your own vows or use something pre-made? Pre-made. |

Engagement
Finally a Proposal!!!
So, this last weekend my Michael finally proposed. We've been planning on getting married but it wasn't official until Saturday, totally surprised me!
We hadn't been planning on getting an engagement ring due to finances, so I had returned my promise ring and told him to use it instead of buying a new one. On Saturday, while visiting his hometown, Michael took me down by the water and got on one knee :) eek, of course I immediately started tearing up. He pulled out my promise ring and started to put it on....my right hand. Obviously something that needed correcting so as I attempted to correct the mistake and tell him that was the wrong finger, he pulled out another ring box. He had gotten me an engagement ring and made it work. What a surprise!!! So, now we are getting married July 24th, 2010, its official we have a reception site and everything!! Despite panicking a little about the budget, I am super happy, as is Michael, YAY!!! |

Haven't Been Here
SOOOOO BUSY!
Well, as all can tell its been awhile since I've been on here to post anything. It's been so crazy so many changes and so many improvements in the situation Michael and I have been in.
So, since the beginning of our relationship we had been long-distance, almost five hours away, etc. etc.... LONG DISTANCE NO LONGER!!!! After a year of being away from each other, Michael officially moved her December 26th!!!! AHHHHHH! He moved here without a job, had never left his hometown, and lived anywhere else, and is doing amazingly with the whole thing. He just got a job this week, walked into a place, gave him his resume, and within about 4 hours got a call back and started that very day! My job has been going considerably better, in fact I even got employee of the month last month! Which is ironic, because literally, I didn't do that much different compared to when I was in danger of getting let go. I went in kept my head down and just went about my work. I guess from previous assistants they were way behind on work. But between me and the other assistant who is part-time (I'm full) we got everything caught up and have maintained that. Well, she'll be out for a little while, which has increased my work load exponentially so therefore, a huge lack of thought into wedding plans. We did move the date to July, with everything that's happened, unexpected expenses, etc. a wedding when we wanted was just not practical. Also, Michael has been getting to know my family a lot better, and they love him so, I'm just thrilled. All in all, life is good :) I am wondering has anybody ever used ubrides.com? I found a reproduction of my dress on there cheaper than littlecoral.com and am just curious if anyone knows anything? THANK YOU!! Good to be back!! |

Sad Day
Thought this would be a good thing....
So, about 3 weeks ago, I got a new job. Which considering my previous job, was a tremendous blessing, I had no regular paychecks and was having trouble saving for the wedding.
Now, today, I am questioning everything. I got a job in a completely different field than I have ever been in. AKA going from spas to an office with lawyers. The person I interviewed with knew this going in and I was honest by saying while I don't have alot of experience I do my best to learn. Never gone into an interview feeling so under qualified, and yet I got it. Hello to solid pay, full time hours, paid vacation, health benefits etc. and I can save for the wedding!! Today, I smacked right in between the eyes. My new boss took me and the other assistant in to a back room and said we were basically not up to par. Not keeping up with the pace we should be, like how those who were in the positions we are before us were. That basically, shape up or ship out. One, I was aware there were corrections happening on a case by case basis, my impression was that these were just, learning the ropes of the job things. Two, It's been less than a month, I haven't even gotten my first paycheck. Three, the people there previously had been there a heck of a lot longer. I feel completely stupid, like I can do nothing right, and after that meeting I started to see the micro managing begin. I don't know what to do, if I get fired I'll be completely lost, I have NEVER been fired in my life. Michael has been amazing in all of this. Working overtime to build me up. Now I have to go in tomorrow and somehow not be overly self-conscious and let it effect my work. Am I being weird? Or does it seem kinda weird to be threatening like this after such a short time of working in a place where they were aware I didn't have that much experience? Not to mention 2 of those days I was without supervision or instruction as the boss was out sick... blah sorry just had to vent. |

Wedding Flowers
Bouquets
So, we were originally going to do roses, but Michael likes the calla lilies better and for me it was a toss up. Now I am on a quest to find beautiful reasonable calla lilies I can order to tie the bouquets and do boutonnieres myself with. We won't be using them as centerpieces so just need for those things.
What we would like do do is do Michael's boutonniere in the same color as my bouquet and do everyone else's white. I'd like something like what is to the left....the caption on this picture said they were eggplant, but they look dark red crimson to me, which is what we want. The burgundy callas look pink/red. Has anyone seen if eggplant really are purple? Furthermore, where have you seen to order from, or experienced that you like? Thanks a ton!! |

Etiquette for rings during ceremony
So, I was pondering today....what are some ideas for how to handle the engagement ring during the ceremony?
Do you have it carried with your wedding ring and put the band, then the engagement back on? Do you just have it above the band for awhile? Wear it on the right hand? And if so...what do you do with a promise ring? |

So, after talking it over with the FH, we're making a change....we're going glam. Its kinda hard to describe, but we're thinking we're gonna change our focus from color, to using light and clear (aka diamonds, twinkle lights, branches with twinkle, some metallics, black and white, etc)
I love my lime and navy, I feel like a total trader switching lol...alas, I am glam, I can't deny it. So now I'm turning black.... |
