How long before your wedding did you ask the girls to be in your wedding party??

One of my recently married friends told me to wait awhile, because in a year friendships can change.....

but yet I don't want them to be busy that day.....

i don't know....

I say 8 months is good. Some dresses need to be ordered 5 months in advance so no later then 6 months!

i agree with ms fabulous, at least 7 months so that they can save money or take off, or plan other things in their life if they need too.

well i asked my sister in law when we first got engaged. my MOH was probably a year before the wedding date....i had another girl when i asked my MOH but like your friend same, friendships change, well i ended up relpaceing her with a friend i have now in the wedding which i asked 6 months before the wedding...i thought that was late, saying the next week i needed her to order her dress lol

I let my girls know about a 10 months in advance but that's because I wanted to give them enough time to save up for their dress and other things they'll need to purchase.

I clearly let them know what is expected of them right from the start and they all said yes, so I'm happy.

I asked my MOH, which has been my best friend from middle school and all my bridesmaids right away. But two are family and 2 are really good friends, so I guess it depends on how close you feel to the people you pick.  Maybe you can ask family right away and maybe one close friend? The rest can wait till you feel that it is good...

I am getting married May 16, 2009 and I have already asked my girls starting May 1, 2008. At first I felt that it was too early but I am having a rather large wedding and I needed everyone to be on one accord.

Haha! Just read the last part. You're cute. Just tell them your date, don't give any hints as to bridesmaids, and I'm sure they will reserve the day for you!

My wedding isn't for another 13 months, and I've already asked mine. Maybe too soon? 6 of the 9 are family so hopefully not going anywhere! And I've known them all for a long time.
