Bridesmaids
Feeling Selfish. Need some cheering up.
OK. So. First big problem has surfaced.
I received an e-mail yesterday from my best friend and matron of honor. She began the e-mail by apologizing to me, and asking me not to be mad. I read on to find out that she's pregnant with her third child, and is due on the DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING!! My heart sank and jumped and the same time. Jumped because I'm so happy for her and her husband. They just went through a very painful miscarriage. And sank because, of course, this means I will most likely need to make alternative arrangements for my bridal party. I'm feeling selfish. I'm not mad at her at all. (How can I be?!) But I am disappointed. We've been best friends since the 3rd grade, and I cannot imagine getting married without her by my side. I don't mind having a pregnant MOH, but I doubt she'll feel well enough, unless she delivers a few weeks before. I really need some support in this, as I don't feel like I can talk about my disappointment to my friends and family here. |

Wedding Dress
My Dress!
This is my dress... I absolutely LOVE it, and it fits the mood I'm trying to create for my wedding. I'm going to have the top of it altered to create a sweetheart neckline....other than that, it's perfect!
It's a Galina Signature -- It's a soft A-line shape, ivory chiffon, heavily beaded bodice (which will soon have a sweetheart neckline) with a sunburst pleated skirt. It flows so well, and it's beautiful! I just hate that my dress shopping days are over so soon! (Sadly, the details of the dress did not show up well on this camera...the pleating is much more defined than it looks in these pics) (Oh, and the sample had many flaws on it. I've already purchased, ordered, and have my actual dress...and it's flawless (the band at the bottom of the bodice on the sample was loose, and somewhat flipped up. There were also creases on the skirt) |

Wedding Venue!
Here are a few pictures of my venue...
The ceremony will be held by the lake (weather permitting, of course)...
and the dinner portion of the reception will be held in the Red House Admin Building (In the pictures) Unfortunately, I was not able to find any pictures of the inside of the building to show you, but I will be going up there shortly to meet with the on-sight coordinator. I'll take pictures then and post later! The inside picture is actually the cabin I'll be getting ready in... and the one my FH and I will be staying in before heading to Jamaica! What do you think?! |

Ask a Question
Wedding/Reception on Sunday!? Advice, please!
I'm going to try to make this short and readable -- I really need your opinions.
Every year my entire family has a reunion in the State Park we'll be getting married in. We've known since he proposed that this is wear we would hold the wedding. Every 5 years, the entire family camps at the park the week leading up to the reunion. This happens to be that year. Camping is from Sunday to Sunday. Since most of my family lives in Texas and NC, and we're in NY, we've decided to have our wedding in this week, so that everyone can make it. Since the reunion is on Saturday...the only weekend day that my family will be in town and available is the Sunday before, July 25th. So, this is our wedding date. Every time I tell someone my wedding date, they tell me I'm crazy for doing it on a Sunday evening (ceremony at 6, because the check-in time for the cabins is at 3. Gives people time to settle). Are there any other Sunday brides?! Is this crazy? Should I figure out something else?? I'm confused... (This photo is of the park...and the reception venue!) |

Ask a Question
New (or maiden) surname ordeal...
I have a few questions, simply out of curiosity...
1. Will you be changing your surname to your FH's? Or will you keep your maiden name. Or will you hyphenate, ect? 2. Why have you chosen this option? (Personal preference, culture/religion, FH's opinion) 3. Which name do you like better? Your current surname, or your FH's? I will be choosing to change my last name, from Colby to Scull. The decison was easy for me -- I love this tradition, and have always looked forward to adopting the name of the man I love. I like both names, Colby and Scull, although Scull is a pretty masculine name, and most people think I'm being "silly" if I say it, and they do not know how it's spelled. |

Wedding Flowers
I just have to have this bouquet! (Help)
I'm not very good with flowers. If it's not a lily or rose, I probably don't know what it is.
I live in a very small town, with one florist, who mostly sells "Get Well" bouquets and corsages for prom. She's not an expert either (oddly enough).... Anyway, I found this bouquet on the knot.... Can anyone tell me what flowers these are?!! Like I said, I just have to have it! |

The Ceremony
My Brother is going to officiate our wedding...
My older (and closest) brother is going to become officially ordained so that he can officiate our wedding.
It is legal in our state, and he can go through the entire process online. My FH and I wanted a civil ceremony, and wanted to make it personal. I was SO excited when my brother said he'd be happy to do it! I CAN'T WAIT! |

Guest List
Guest Stress!
I originally pictured a small, intimate wedding. This has completely gone out the window!
I have 6 siblings, each of my parents have 6 siblings. I have 15 nieces/nephews, and TONS of cousins. My FH's family is almost as large! And of course we have friends, too! I'm trimming my guest list the best I can, but I'm already starting to pull my hair out! This is definitely my biggest stress so far..... |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Husband's Wedding Band...
My FH is not exactly a traditional kind of guy. We've looked at wedding bands several times while we're out and about, but nothing has seemed to really jump out at him. I came across Andrew English while searching other wedding ideas. I think doing a fingerprint wedding band for him is PERFECT! It's different, and extremely personal.
I think I like it better on the inside...but I don't think that will be different enough for him. This is definitely what I'll do... I cannot wait to surprise him! |
