Using Flowers from Leis instead of the costs of freezed dried Orchids

Im doing a sorta crystal tree , Prob the cheapest one imaginable- picking my own branchs, my vases are from the dollar store and i wanted to glue purple flowers to them. Orginallly when i was gonna get the freezed dried orchids but with the amount i need and the insanely low budget im on i started to think " Hmm, what would be cheaper But give a similar impression?" For some reason i thought of of fake flower Leis...And the bonus is there's sooo many flowers on a lei that i prob only need to buy 3 of them So Basicly my idea is to unstring a purple leis & glue some bling to the center , covering the hole & adding more detail. I guess the key will be finding leis with flowers that dont look too cheezy . I cant wait to try it out to see how it looks but i have a good feeling itlwill ook great cuz im crafty & talented like that ; )

I am SO glad to hear somebody else doing this!  I just emailed a company who specializes in leis, & am planning on DIY strand of white orchid leis at my altar. I was trying to think of the easiest, most economical way to have strands of white flowers & crystals, & this is it!  I haven't seen anyone do it, but it makes so much sense.  Good luck with your project :)
