When I first started getting into planning my wedding, the first thing I did was browse how to construct a wedding budget. I found an awesome article online and the first thing it said was to consider was what was most important to you.
I remembered back on a conversation I had with my fiance's mom- she said, "I don't know what the most important thing to you is, but for me it was my wedding dress."
Maybe it's the photographer in me, but my first thought was THE WEDDING PHOTO'S! I want the dress to be pretty, the food to be good... but I want to have phenomenal photographs! :)
I had a feeling that finding a photographer that I was crazy about... this would be a difficult task for me...
I was right. :)
I remembered that when I first got into digital photography, I was in contact on Myspace (dating myself? LOL) with a girl I went to middle school with. She was also getting into photography at the time, and she was very good. I didn't know if she was still at it, since I hadn't talked to her in a few years, but sure enough, I found her on Facebook. Unfortunately, she was not doing weddings at the time, so... sad day for me. She did, however, give me some awesome referrals.
After checking out her referrals, I went to the Bridal Show in January and checked out some photographers there... everyone I liked was well over my budget... I started to feel like I was going to have to settle.
Turns out, my mother has a friend at church who's a wedding planner... who suggested I check out Mandy Reed- said she was a great photographer, well organized, and decently priced for a wedding photographer.
Mandy Reed... where had a heard that name before?? I realized, back when my fiance and I went to check out a venue in November, she was one of the recommended photographers there. I never ended up looking her up, because I thought there was no way I would ever be able to afford her.
I met with Mandy on Friday... and Friday I booked my wedding photographer! The referral was spot on- organized, nice, and decently priced. She is just what I was looking for!
The "flare" I was looking for... and in my budget ;)
I couldn't be happier with my choice!
If there's any Arizona brides out there, you should definitely check her out!
