Wedding Invitation - <FONT color=hotpink><B>Invitations and guest lists!</FONT></B>

WOW so today after my bbq with my family, I sat down with my sister and mom and decided to write out the guest list for just MY side of the family and I was so surprised! I honestly never realized how many people I know! I wanted to keep the TOTAL number of guests to about 150 but that is going to be TOUGH! I also realized that I was going to invite family that I only see at funerals (sadly, it is true) or family that I haven't even see in the last 3-5 years!! (or longer!) I thought to myself, WHY AM I INVITING PEOPLE THAT I BARELY KNOW??? Its my wedding and yes, I want to celebrate with close family and friends, but not around family that Im not comfortable around because I don't really know them....know what I mean?

I kind of feel bad because I know I am going to have to cut out alot more people (which Im honestly okay with them not being there) but I just hope they don't get butthurt by not being invited.

Im going to try to get my guest list down to about 75-80 and Im going to tell my fiance that he gets to invite 75-80 guests as well. I refuse to have 200 people at my wedding!! I know this is going to be hard for him but if his mom wants to invite more, his parents will be the ones to pay for it! Fair enough? lol

ASIDE from the guest list, I found some invitations that take my breath away =) The first one (pictured) is my absolute favorite!!!! Once my fiance gets his side of the guest list done, I am going to get set an appointment for my invitationsssssss.

I know that feeling! I HATED doing my list....because I realized I was inviting people I could really care less about seeing! Like seriously I think its your wedding and you can invite whoever you want to. I have learned that some people....especially different fam members....just love going to weddings they don't care who it is! Lol! So just narrow it down to whom you feel is important and will make an effort to be there....and if you have extras afterwards....invite the so so people....

Wow, I totally understand how you feel. I actually cried when I did my list. I was like, where did all these people come from lol. Then I got it together and pulled rank over my mom list and said just because you worked with them 20 years ago and they bought me a gift when I was born does not mean they need to come to my wedding lol. I tried to explain that each invite is 1 invitation (that I have to put together), one more place setting (I have to pay for) & 2 postage stamps lol etc. She kept telling me that even if we invite them they may not come... but I was like they just MIGHT come and I don't even know them. SMH... I going to tell her like you said... well you pay for them lol. Good luck girl

I had this same issue. We started only wanting 120 and now our guest list is a little over 150. You can usually invite a little more than you want, because everyone won't be able to make it to your wedding.

The invite set looks GREAT...I love it :-)

i think we all have family that we only see at funerals or haven't spoken to at least 3 - 5 years lol, so know worried there! bottom line is, like the girls said, it's your wedding, invite who you want there and who you feel comfortable with. its your day girl!! don't forget it =)

I decided only to invite the people that I had stored in my phone. If I didn't know how to get ahold of them myself that meant I really didn't know them. I had a few people say they wish they could come and I always just said I wish I could invite everyone but we can't, we will have to get together for lunch or dinner one day and catch up. I ended up inviting a total of 117 still but a lot of those were also kids so I knew my number would be much lower. Hubby's side however I am just not even going to talk about. :)

Ahhh im so glad that Im not the only one that feels this way! Thanks for the support ladies...you definately made me feel better about having to shorten my list!!

@justkandra I had that same issue with my mom too. I had to explain over and over that every single person is an extra cost. I just had to constantly remind her the cost I was having to pay per person! lol

@ ccg0924 Thats actually a good idea to only invite those people who are stored in your phone haha!!
