Ask a Question
Mother-In-Laws

So I was watching Monster-In-Law last night and I started thinking that maybe I was just extremely lucky cause my soon to be mother-in-law is an amazing women.....I mean she is like martha stewart on steroids....She builds homes (she has 22 rental homes that she built) Comes home from that cooks a gourmet meal....goes to the gym....and still makes time for her kids....She has welcomed me into their family with open arms and she tells me all the time how much she loves me for making her son happy.....Well I hear so many horror stories about how girls hate their mother-in-laws....Am I just lucky????

Here is my question to you....how many of you love your soon to be mother-in-law to death and how many of you wish she would she would just disappear???

I LOVE my new mama! We don't call each other in-laws, that how close we are! She is the biggest sweetie poo and that is where Jesse gets it from. Her and I have a lot in common (big one, we both were single parents, I'm not now that Jesse's here, but before him). We talk all the time and I adore her!

I certainly don't wish my future mother-in-law would disappear, but I can't say that I love her to death either.  My fiance and I met in college where we go 3 hours from his home and 2 hours from mine.  I'm still in school and he's still in the city where I am so unfortunately neither of our families know our better half very well.  We have years to grow to love each other though, and I'm excited to love his family as much as I know my family will love him :)

i love love love my fmil. she's an amazing person.  her and future father in law just celebrated their 30th aniversary.  they've been there for collin and me for so many things.  they're so supportive of everything!  i talk to them almost more than i talk to my own parents (dont get me wrong, i love my mommy).  and because they live about 15 min away from us, we have dinner with them at least once a week.  i cant tell u how much we are learning from their marriage.  they've literally gone through really bad and really good times, sickness and health, everything! but they're bond is so strong, its unbelievable.  i'm glad we have them as our teachers!  I'm so excited to join their family.  I'll be 1 of 3 Morrison women...what an honor!!

That's funny that you say something...we went home on vacation this last week and my MIL and I had a blast trying to plan stuff and juz hanging out while we stayed while my own mother and me hardly got a long or talked. It sounds bad but me and my mom have a rough kind of relationship...but I love her dearly!

My fiances mom and dad have both passed so I dont even have the chance to have these lit'l problems you normally have with in laws ~ it would be nice to have them around, especially right now for the wedding.

My Mother-in-Law is an interesting woman. Not even my FI knows quite what to do with her... I don't wish she would disappear but both me and my FI have agreed that a long distance relationship with her would be the best. She LOVES drama and will make stuff up if there is nothing to talk about. And she has an odd obsession with money. Will ask constantly for it - even borrowing my pathetic $3000 college savings account.  But we are ok with her (she can be very nice), it is the father-in-law that seriously no one feels comfortable around. He has some major problems. My FI had an interesting family life. You are very lucky!   ;D

My mother in law was a wonderful lady. Very intelligent and extremely caring. She passed away two years ago from cancer. We will honor her at our wedding. Now on the other hand, my future sister in law  is another story. Shes the only girl out of four kids and she has issues with ALL of her brothers wives. Initially I thought that it was because she was the only girl, spoiled and needed some sisterly love, well I was WRONG because her husband is the only son out of four kids and she has issues with all of her husband's sisters, ridiculous. Needless to say she lives 6 hours away and I'm so happy!!!!!

Right now my FH & I are living w/ his brother, his bro's g/f,, his bro's 3 yr old son & their mom. i love my FMIL! we talk all the time & i can be so open to her & tell her anything... i have never had that kind of relationship w/ a parent, i was always scared to talk to my own, so its very nice getting her opinion but not her judgements. i cant wait to join this family!

i really like my FMIL,
the only thing about her that gets on my nerves is that she thinks everything about the wedding has to be traditional or she won't agree to do it. I want our parents at the head table, and she doesn't want to do it.  When she thought her son was paying for the wedding, she wanted to be cheap, when she found out that my parents were footing most of the bill, their list of guest balooned to 100 people!!. I think some of it is the fact that her only daughter is a lesbian, and she will never get to officially plan a wedding herself, and she is a little jealous. But i think she will be back to normal after the wedding.

Ermmm, we're ok.
I've got the utmost respect for her, as she raised my FI and his two siblings without a father, financial or emotional support from anyone. My FI turned out to be the best husband and father I could ever ask for and that had to come from his Mum.
However, our relationship turned a little sour since our daughter was born nearly 4 years ago. Maybe I expected her to be this 'Hollywood Granma' but she disappointed me real bad. She doesn't have much interest in her grandchild and as a mother that hurts me the most.
Whenever we're together everything is cool and she's really sweet but I will never understand her and the way she handles her family.

well,, my mother in law was great at the begining and now, she drives me insane!! haha.. we are just 2 very different people and were raised very differently, she is not a giving type of person, you borrow five bux shes at your door the next day wanting it back! i was raised if i have it and i can give it then do it with out expecting anything back. they would rather see me and my hubby struggle then help us! they wont ever watch our little ones because they say we had kids now we have to deal with it. and she wants to invite like 200 people to my wedding! and doesnt want to help pay!! but we have our days, some days we talk and some days i just want to strangle her hahaa

OMG! I absolutely love my future mom in law! My fiance and I have been together for six years and I have grown so close to his family. If it wasn't for her this wedding wouldn't be half of what is turning out to be! She is amazingly crafty, unlike my mom! Every time I turn around she is adding something to make or DIY to my wedding..and I love it! She is very happy for us and she is very involveD! :-)
