The proposal...

So maybe I am a little off on the length of time I have been engaged. It came and went by in a blur, but I am just enjoying it all the same.

It all took place during a 5 hour long drive back to our apartment in central Texas...

Before we made it to my parent's house, we decided to stop to fuel up the car in Kingsville, Texas. As we were leaving he asked if I wanted to stop by the university where we first met... and I said, not really, because the town was looking so depressing (its days really are numbered). But then I changed my mind and said yes because what king of girl is going to pass up a chance to relive one of the most memorable moments in her relationship with a pretty amazing guy?

As we passed through the campus he remarked that we should drive by the building that we met each other in (we had our very first class together in this building). He pulled into the lot and I told him I would get out and see if the building was open, but seeing as how it was Sunday, it probably wouldn't be. As I was walking in front of the car, I noticed he was getting out of it. I figured he was going to come in with me so I decided to wait for him to come to me. As he came towards me I began to walk in front of him towards the building when I noticed there were no footsteps behind.

When I looked back, he knelt on a knee. I laughed and said, "what are you doing?" to which he replied, "Lulla... I think it is time, now...."

(Meanwhile I am thinking this is a cruel joke because we had recently watched an episode of The Office where Jim and Pam are walking and Jim gets down on one knee and says something to the effect of "Pam... (Pam looks back and is shocked) I need to tie my shoe" but she thinks that he is going to propose to her... but he doesn't).

I laughed and walked into his arms and cried for several minutes, without giving him a yes (but of course it was a yes) which I did eventually say... several minutes later. The rest of the 3 hours we drove north were heavenly and I will never forget the feeling.

The ring is from Apples of Gold and is the exact engagement ring I wanted! We had sat around the computer several times about a year ago when he kept asking me what kind of ring I wanted and I am so surprised he remembered. But I was also very surprised when he presented it to me, I was so unaware!! All the while both his parents and mine knew!!

The ring
This engagement ring revels in the Art Deco period design. Swirling flower and petal motif is delicately etched into the smooth 14k white gold band. An intricate, lustrous yellow gold lotus flower opens to offer one solitaire, precious, brilliant round diamond.
