NEW CHANGES...
I've changed a bunch of the previous posts to reflect our actual decisions. We're only a month away but at least we've gotten a lot of the planning done. Though still lots of little details to come!

Florist
Lexington Floral
We visited several florists, but Lexington Floral stood out the most to me. I really liked their store and I found the arrangement I like for the bouquets in their wedding albums. I really look forward to meeting with them soon. Unfortunately I found out how much it might cost to have what I'd like. We'll just have to wait and see.

Bakery
Grandma's Bakery, White Bear, MN
We found a really amazing bakery yesterday! Grandma's Bakery - http://www.grandmasbakery.com/
It was huge! They had cakes everywhere and you could watch them making pastries and all sorts of stuff. This weekend we are going for a tasting and consultation. I really hope that they can make the cake we've decided on for what we can afford! |

Reception Site update
We've visited three reception sites and our top two are the Medina Center and Zuharh Shrine Center.
Medina is far (30 min) from the ceremony and the Zuharh is in downtown Minneapolis (20 min), and they are priced about the same. After listening to some swing music I was reminded how important it is for us to have a place where we would just dance our hearts out....and that's the Medina Center. I haven't told Abe yet (he really likes the Medina) but I think we're going to pick that one as our reception site. They have a full stage, which is something we'll probably need with a 13-16 piece band, and they do provide a lot of decorations and we get the place for the entire day! Plus I found out that we'll have a private entrance to the ballroom so that our guests don't have to walk through the bar and restaurant to get to the reception. I feel like we're so close to having picked out everything! it's exciting! **Update** We paid the deposit for the Medina Center. Let's just hope that we can fill the ballroom! |

BIG BAND!!!!
I'm so excited!! I found an amazing big band in our area! I can't stop dancing to their music, and they are a typical swing band so they are used to crazy energetic swing lovers like us!! They have a 13-16 piece band and they even play Micheal Buble songs... hehe
here they are: http://www.bellagala.com/bands/bigband.html ***please go watch their videos at the bottom of their page*** http://www.bellagala.com/bands/samplespricing.html |

Possible Reception Locations
So after hours of searching and re-budgeting we have a list of places. Some of them are still sort of out of budget once everything is added on.
The one that best suits our personalities and desires (plus the best for our budget) is...MEDINA ENTERTAINMENT CENTER (pictures 1-3) http://www.medinaentertainment.com/ They have a dance floor that is 65x95 (huge!) and they have a in-house caterer and bar service...basically they supply everything except the cake (yes even security and center pieces and twinkle lights). It's only $500 to rent for 17 hours! No food minimum and they have a stage for the band. The only downfall is it's a little farther from the chapel than we would have liked. But it's only 10 more minutes away from any other place. Living in a large city sort of makes things more spread out. We called and are anxiously waiting for the coordinator to return from vacation on Monday to schedule a visit. Their calendar online shows that our date is wide open! The others on the list are *Grand Palladian Ballroom: http://www.semplemansion.com/ (picture 4) *University Club - St Paul: http://www.universityclubofstpaul.com/downtownball.html (pictures 5-6) *Zuharh Shrine and Harrington Mansion: http://www.zuhrahshrinecenter.com/ (pictures 7-8) *White Bear Country Inn: http://www.whitebearcountryinn.com/facilities.phtml (picture 9) |

The Proposal
So Abe picked me up from school the day before we were leaving to go to Atlanta for Thanksgiving. We started driving home and he said oh, btw I'm kidnapping you. Right from the start I knew he was up to something. He hadn't been very good at hiding the fact that he was buying the ring and what not so I knew it was coming.
We drove to Minnehaha Falls, which is the first park we ever visited in Minneapolis. We were visiting last Feb and the falls were frozen! It was gorgeous. So it was sort of romantic to go back. Now because it gets dark at like 4:30, it was dark by the time we got to the park, which made me think he most be proposing otherwise we wouldn't be here in the dark freezing our butts off. We walked all the way down to the bottom of the falls where the bridge is located. Then he finally gets down on one knee and asks. I don't even remember if he asked...I knew it was coming and wanted it to come faster so I screamed and jumped up and down as soon as he was on one knee. **I added a few pictures of the falls from back in Feb.** |

Wedding Flowers
Lilies are my favorite flower. Since our color scheme is white and green I think my bouquet will be mostly white with green foliage and ribbon. However, I'm playing around with the idea of accents of either purple, pink, or yellow.
Here are a few photos of what I'm thinking about. I want something simple but not over simplistic, still elegant. Flowers - lilies, orchids, lilac, lavender, roses (in that order) **update** I'm leaning more towards the pink arrangement, but I still like the first picture of orchids. **update** Ok, I'm going with the first picture (orchids) and white lilies (probably calla, but I love the lilies with more petals). This way the theme of the wedding is still green and white, and the focus is not on pink flowers. |

Wedding Cake
I found a few cakes that I like. We haven't really discussed much about what we want, but I liked these.
**update** the first cake is my favorite. I would probably add a little more to it. I like the flowers a lot, but would want a little more color. I would also like a pattern on each tier sort of like the 2nd cake (yellow). I really like the second cake expect with lilies or orchids instead of roses. |
